SACRAMENTO — President Trump’s immigration chief ripped into Gov. Jerry Brown on Friday for signing legislation that creates a statewide sanctuary policy, saying the federal government will be forced to “conduct at-large arrests in local neighborhoods and at work sites” of undocumented immigrants.

Sanctuary cities/states don't stop ICE from doing whatever ICE wants to do. They just don't cooperate voluntarily with ICE.

Nobody's disputing that the federal government has the authority to enforce this stuff. What sanctuary cities and States are saying is that if the federal government wants to enforce this stuff, it can pay for that enforcement, via ICE, rather than trying to hand that off to the States and municipalities.

The problem with Cal doing this (if they really go through with it) it really hangs on the fact more states will buy into it, becoming sanc states themselves. But they wont, most don't have Californias view on illegal immigrants and want that sweet sweet federal funding.

This will make California a huge target to Trumps ICE & border employee influx, not to mention future federal funding.

Nothing's better than multiple police entities acting on their own with out communication, that's not a recipe for disaster at all.

I don’t think you understand what a sanctuary city is. It’s not that they harbor or protect illegal immigrants, they just won’t spend their money to enforce immigration laws. This is VERY normal. Most localities won’t enforce federal laws specifically, they just won’t interfere with federal agents. Fox News is just spinning people like you up because they have an agenda.

Also California will never be pressured out of the union. The US is sustained by California’s giant economy. If California left the union, the US would quickly lose its position to China and Russia in terms of global fire power.

Then why is it called "Santuary city"?? If it doesn't really "do anything" then why give it that name?
