The "should Classic receive changes" argument feels manufactured

Now those of us who have actually been following the Classic WoW debacle know what we want: plain 'ol Vanilla.

This contingent of "we want Classic + QoL changes/other nonsense" people didn't really exist until right after the announcement.

I'm trying to avoid putting the tinfoil hat on, but seeing people get dragged into an argument's that is clearly set-up to do nothing more than distract from Classic WoW itself just comes across as weird.

A quick forum search shows over 400 different threads (from 2016 and earlier) discussing legacy servers, many of these arguing about which features/QoL changes you'd theoretically want.
