Looking at this list reminds me that I only played very few games from 2017. Good to see Cuphead being a nomimee in almost anything, its one of the games that stood out the most this year.

I'm a bit surprised honestly. I mean, I haven't played PUBG just to name one of the popular ones that keep popping up, but otherwise I've played a decent amount.

I'm happy though to see Persona 5 popping up over and over. I never thought the game would hit this big before I played it.

Cuphead also another pleasant surprise, although I still haven't played it myself, from what I've seen of it, and from what I've heard the creators went through, it deserves it.

How dare JRPGs get listed for my award when I had great games like Mass Effect Andromeda release this year!

Honestly the only major issues I see are best handheld game which is basically "best 3DS game" ignoring Switch and even ignoring 2 good games that had Vita versions and best Family game which doesn't fit it's description it should be renamed best E rated game or something. Most of those games are not as described played as a family, only MK8D would fit that description.

Nier Automata has build customization, level based progression, branching stories, loot and gear. How again is it not an RPG? Did you even play the game? Hell Nier Automata has more RPG elements then every game on that list short of Divinity. All of them are RPGs, Nier and Divinity just more so then the others.
