Americans greatest fears are Corrupt Government Officials???

Recent survey by the Chapman University Survey of American Fears , shows that Americans are mainly worried about Corrupt Politicians.

As an Australian, that really surprised me. I mean corruption & politics , that seems so everyday.

American Healthcare was 20% less worried about than corrupt Politicians.
I thought Healthcare would be the number one issue to be concerned about.

Becoming very ill was only ranked as the number 39th fear
and dying was ranked as the 48th fear. (no wonder America is the Home of the Brave)

On a lighter note: Clowns ranked as the 76th thing that Americans fear most
And Zombies where ranked as the 78th thing that Americans fear the most..

The corruption and bribery in US politics affects basically every thing in it. If you're worried about healthcare then you should be worried about the healthcare and pharmaceutical lobbies bribing politicians.

They're a closer threat to the American populace than the Islamic terrorists and North Korean sabre rattling that the media drums up, not that I'm completely downplaying either of those situations and I'm prone to go full Tweek about the NK issue.

They don't have to do it under the table. It's perfectly legal for corporations to give "donations" to politicians.

FBI gets involved in a lot of corrupt officials cases.

The corrupt official thinks, "well I make $300K a year, I'll fight this."

The FBI has the full might of the US treasury behind them with nearly unlimited funds and resources. If the FBI needs a thousand lawyers they can get a thousand lawyers.

People you thought were your friends will suddenly not accept your phone calls. You suspect that the places your frequent are bugged, maybe even your phone.

I've always wondered why this was, why do we come down so hard on corrupt officials since corruption is pretty rare in most parts of the US, maybe this survey is why, it's the voter's greatest fear.

Given the current administration, and the election that preceded it, this isn't all that surprising.

I'd add that it's also our biggest barrier in this country, although the "corruption" is legalized.

Aussiedude, what's so surprising?
The aspects that relate to the healthcare issue are listed in more spots. Even #1 includes it..
Corrupt government officials are very real since everyone knows how Congress itself is already in the pockets of big business lobbyists.
Health care can't get fixed and brought to modern countries standards, because it would cut brutally into an entire industry's profit margins.
