The irony of what he said is that Democrats are pretty terrible at messaging. They've been fortunate enough to capitalize on the abortion stuff, but there are tons of other areas where they could be absolutely eviscerating the GOP (housing costs, infrastructure, worker's rights, and not committing a fucking genocide) but they just don't...

Well, the RNC now appears to be taking their war to NBC rofl.

The Republican National Committee is weighing whether to restrict NBC’s access to this summer’s convention, following the network’s decision to drop former RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel as a contributor.

Such a move would mark a dramatic escalation in the growing rift between Donald Trump-allies and the TV network — a rift that has stemmed from NBC’s decision to part ways with McDaniel amid a revolt among top on-air talent.

“We are taking a hard look at what this means for NBC’s participation at the convention,” said Danielle Alvarez, a spokesperson for the RNC and the Trump campaign. “Our priority is making sure this is a world class event that allows President Trump to feature his message and vision in a fair way.”

    An NBC spokesperson declined comment.

But any attempt to restrict the network’s access at the convention would likely engender strong pushback from top brass there, as well as organizations tasked with representing the media and, potentially, rival journalists and outlets.

The RNC did not further elaborate on what “a hard look” meant. But a major showdown with the press at the biggest political event of the election cycle could prove to be an unwanted distraction for Republicans. That is especially true for a presidential nominee who takes heavy interest in the media coverage he receives.

Do they...do they not remember they fired her? They removed her job and threw her out?

Whatever. WaPo reports that Trump's people are now putting a "do you think the 2020 election was stolen?" litmus test question on RNC job interviews.

We know it's a litmus test, because Team Trump said it wasn't.

"If we don't have someone who has thought deeply about these issues as it pertains to the Republican Party, then that would suggest they're not particularly a curious young person," a Trump campaign official said on a press call Thursday.

"It's important to understand if your frontline political staff has any firsthand opinion or view of things they observed or didn't observe four years ago, and how that factors into how they operate now," the official said.

The goal, the official said, is to bring on political staffers who can "think through complex problems."

The official said that the interview question about the 2020 election does not amount to a "litmus test."

A second official then jumped in to add: "There is a litmus test. And that is, 'Do you support President Trump, or not?'"
"When the two officials were talking about yes/no there is/isn't a litmus test, are they talking about the same question?"

Unclear, but it is completely reasonable to say that people who support Trump believe 2020 was stolen. Trump continues to this day to say it was stolen, after all.

"What's complex about the 2020 election?"

Nothing. Trump lost, fairly and legally. There was no evidence otherwise.

"What's there to think about deeply?"

Nothing. Trump lost, fairly and legally. There was no evidence otherwise.

The question is a litmus test, it is there to weed out people who put anything over Trump and his many proven lies.

Team Trump then went on to say

the Trump campaign... has locked up the nomination in one of the fastest timelines in modern day political history
but forgot that Biden locked his up even faster.

"That's not fair, Biden's the incumbent."

And Trump thinks he won 2020. Same rule applies. Biden still wins.

The Rhode Island Republican Party's executive director has stepped down and, at least in the short term, will not be replaced.

Jesus Solorio, who was hired as state GOP executive director in March 2022, announced Monday that he had left the party to form his own political consultancy.

“It's been an honor serving as the Rhode Island GOP executive director for the past two years," Solorio wrote in a news release, which described the specialty of his new firm, Homan Street Strategies, as "empowering candidates with the precise tools and strategies needed to turn blue seats red."

RI GOP returning to an 'all-volunteer' arrangement
During his time at the Rhode Island Republican Party, Solorio saw very few blue seats turn red in Rhode Island as Democrats maintained their grip on statewide offices and most city halls and commanding majorities in the General Assembly.

State party Chairman Joe Powers Monday said the organization had "not put in a plan to fill the position straight away" and would be returning to the all-volunteer arrangement that was in place from 2018 until Solorio's hiring in 2022.

Solorio came to Rhode Island from Illinois, where he had been the Latino outreach/volunteer coordinator for then-candidate and future one-term governor Bruce Rauner before launching his own unsuccessful campaign for Congress.

Solorio was alerted to the Rhode Island job by Ashley Kalus, a fellow Rauner campaign alum who won the Republican nomination for governor of Rhode Island in 2022, but lost to Gov. Dan McKee.

More recently, Solorio came under pressure in January when the party struggled to collect the necessary signatures to get all Republican presidential candidates on the state primary ballot. The four Republicans challenging presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump did ultimately qualify for the primary ballot.
A return to form for the RI GOP going back to an all-volunteer basis for the state party operations.

While it's not surprising or anything given the lack of meaningful Republican presence in the state, I'm sure the broader party financial troubles aren't making for an optimistic future for state parties that might need a hand.

Thousands of voters across the United States received a call in recent days in which newly-installed Republican National Committee co-chair Lara Trump claimed Democrats were planning to rig the 2024 election, CNN reported.

The scripted robocall repeated a host of false claims, all of which were previously rejected by courts that reviewed allegations from former President Donald Trump.

"We all know the problems. No photo IDs, unsecured ballot drop boxes, mass mailing of ballots, and voter rolls chock full of deceased people and non-citizens are just a few examples of the massive fraud that took place," the call said. "If Democrats have their way, your vote could be canceled out by someone who isn't even an American citizen."

Around 145,000 such calls were placed, according to CNN. It suggests that under Lara Trump, the former president's daughter in law, the RNC will lean in to election lies, which did not feature prominently in its messaging following the Jan. 6 insurrection. In his drive to consolidate power as the GOP's presumptive nominee for president, Trump has re-anchored the party to his preferred messaging and installed loyalists in key positions.
At some point you'd figure there would be consequences for continuing to repeat debunked lies and attempt to sow doubt and mistrust in our election systems, which have repeatedly been shown to be trustworthy, safe, and accurate.

But I guess Republicans would rather their party continues to repeat the sweet, delicious lies that they prefer rather than deal with reality.

How is this shit not illegal? Like I get campaign promises being more 'campaign wishes' than actual promises, but going around telling straight up provable lies to people should be fucking illegal, or at the very least prevent you from actually holding any sort of government office. This sort of behavior is unacceptable.

There'd be nothing capable of holding them accountable for it even if it could be made illegal. The Democrats certainly wouldn't do it, because they're too preoccupied trying to seem even-handed and not extreme. Hell, seemingly half of the GOP should already be in jail/barred from office for their participation in blatant election interference, and yet the only people seeing consequences for that are the rubes they got to storm the capital on Jan 6th.

Something is only illegal when there is accountability. And, as we all know, accountability in politics is rare.
