As of today the MMO-Champion Forums are equipped with the following posting rules:
MMO-Champion Forum Guidelines
Though this forum is completely unofficial and not bound by the rules that apply on the official World of Warcraft forums, there are still some general guidelines that should be taken in account before participating to these boards.
These rules aren't here to annoy you, nor do they target anyone in specific. These rules are here to ensure MMO-Champion remains a community that can be enjoyed by many.
These guidelines are effective today and do not apply to posts made before today. If your post/thread is in violation of these guidelines, action will be taken and a warning given.
Last update: Tuesday 29th of July 2008.
We are all human
Keep in mind that a poster is also a human being. Try to be nice and civilized. There is no need to be rude or hurtful.
Don't flame. Don't provoke.
Don't call people "dumb fuck", "idiot", "retard",... You get the point. Right?
Search before you post
Please use the forum's search function. It really works!
If there's already a thread about the subject you wish to discuss, it might be advisable to make your post in that thread. Maybe the answer to your question is already out there?
Think about your topic's Subject. No really, we mean it!
No "I have a question" - This is just too vague. Your topic's subject will decide whether people read it or not.
No "Spell Pushback" - Again, be more specific: "Spell Pushback - How will it affect XYZ"
No "The new mounts..." - Specify! "The new mounts, how do I get them?"
Your topic's subject should attract readers, not frustrate them. Be clear, be descriptive, be specific but keep it short. Using appropriate titles will also help people when they are looking for a thread about a specific topic.
WE ARE NOT DEAF AND BLIND; WE CAN SEE YOU!
Do not type your thread's subject IN FULL CAPITAL LETTERS. There is no need to draw extra attention to your post. It will be noticed.
Everything is General Discussion!
Make sure you are posting in the correct section of the forums. For example:
- A question about a Paladin spell belongs in the Paladin section.
- A recruitment post for your guild belongs in the recruitment section.
Not everything should be posted in the general section. It's like trying to have a conversation in a crowded room.
Contribute. Don't just elevate your post count
When replying, we expect you to have something to say about the topic at hand. Don't just post "QFT" when you could post "I agree because this and that." or "lollolol" when you could have spared us that post.
In addition; this is also quite irritating:
It's okay to quote, but usually, after the quote follows your interesting and thought-out opinion.I'm just quoting what the person above me said.
Parlez-vous Anglais? Do you speak English?
MMO-Champion is a website visited by people from all over the world. Imagine how chaotic things would become if everyone wrote in their native language.
Therefore, English is the preferred language in our community. Make your post in English. If you're not good at English, ask a friend to help, or write your post in the best English you've got. No one is going to make fun of you.
U cnt sp33k liek this, kk?
Not having English for your primary language is no excuse to talk like an idiot, pardon my French. Leetspeek, unexisting abbreviations, intentional spelling disasters, etc will only get your post/topic deleted.
Wall of text crits <Reader> for 99,999 damage.
Use your big ENTER key to space out your impressive wall of text. Paragraphs actually make reading easier.
Other things not allowed on MMO-Champion
Though we are not a big fan of censorship, we do have a few big no-noes concerning "stuff you can't post about".
- Gold-selling/Account selling or trading websites
- Keyloggers (evidently...)
- Hoaxes/phishing websites
- Activities considered illegal by Blizzard (botting, hacking, cheating, exploiting,...)
- Racist/Hate content
- Otherwise offensive content (religious stuff, porn, ... This is a website about video games remember?)
Posting any of the above will result in your post being deleted and your account suspended indefinitely. Repeated abuse of our forums will result in us reporting you to your service provider.
Posting images
Posting images is fine, as long as they don't consume the entire screen and take too long to load. Almost all image hosting websites offer you a series of links when you've uploaded your image. One of these links is specifically to post thumbnails on a forum. It will look like this:
[nobbc][/nobbc]
Please only post pictures in their thumbnail size. If readers wish to see the larger
versions, they will click the link themselves.
Please use this thread to discuss those rules, suggest a new rule or state your opinion about them.
Thank you!
