Just a simple spec for max dps output in a pve type environment.

Also keep in mind that this is for mana stability also. (Keeping mana and DPS up)

Re: Rate my Retribution Paladin PvE spec.

How would spending more than 5 points in holy max your dps? You could spend points in crusade since it increases your damage by 3%.

Re: Rate my Retribution Paladin PvE spec.

I don't see any points in holy?

Get out of prot for pve dps

imp hammer does nothing for you. For pve get swift ret and crusade, crusade is a 6% dps increase

Blessing of Might does increase your DPS more than Blessing of Kings. Go ahead and try on any target dummy. So if you just want to maximize your personal DPS then take Imp. BoM. If you want to bring something useful to the raid/group then keep BoK _in addition_.

Okay GayGirlie, changeing that atm, will edit with new link. Thanks.

Drop Kings - Another Paladin will have it.
Get Imp. Might - Increase in personal DPS
Drop Pursuit of Justice - Not needed for PvE
Drop Vindication - Bosses are Immune

Depending on the changes to Art of War and Righteous Vengeance, we'll have to see if those are worth keeping for PvE.

Currently, Divine Storm can be dropped since it cannot be properly implemented into a long term rotation. You will actually do more DPS without it, currently.

And for dropping the Divine Storm, is currently refering to level 80 pve, or 70 pve?

Re: Rate my Retribution Paladin PvE spec.

Personally here is what I would suggest for raiding:

    http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?talent=sZaxZVfbtbIufMsguAo

    and for soloing:

    http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?talent=sZaxZVfrt0IucrsguAo

From what I've read, Neither Holy nor Prot will voluntarily pick up Kings, and since we have few other good talents, it would be wise to get it.

Pursuit of Justice, actually can be seen as an increase in dps due to quicker running between trash (I read a similar bit about comparison of boot enchants on elitistjerks).

And I'm pretty sure that Judgement, Crusader Strike, Divine Storm can be kept up for a boss fight if you're using Divine Plea (correct me if I'm wrong) but this rotation can be kept up for a decent length of time even without divine plea, so it's probably worth taking.

And Vindication, although it's by no means worth the points, can still trigger mana return from JoW even if the boss is immune.

    Any other thoughts from anyone?

Re: Level 80 Ret Paladin spec w/ spell rotations.

Eye for an Eye won't do much in pve since you (probably) won't tank and aoe hits won't crit since that would be horrible for the healers. I could be wrong, but E4E still wouldn't add anything significant to your damage.

Basically, I think there are better options for those points. Personally, I would choose Pursuit of Justice since I find the mobility essential in fights with knockback or lots of moving around. But if you want to maximize your raid contributions, in which case the MT would probably appreciate 2/2 Improved Ret Aura.

Re: Level 80 Ret Paladin spec w/ spell rotations.

Is that talent build for PvE or PvP because personally it looks like both

If mana is an issue based on int and you're positive you don't need SoC: http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?talent=sVVZ0xZVfbx0IucMsguAo

    Otherwise: http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?talent=sZaxZVfrtbIucMsguAo

You can't do anything wrong with ret.
There are so much points to spent to get all the dmg talents, even with BoK(You need to spec BoK as long as no other pal is going to)You dont even need the 5points from BoK otherwise to max out your damage.

    http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?talent=sZaxZVfbtbIucrsguAo
Imp.Retribution Aura or Vindication, as long as the trash can be affected by Vindication, go for it otherwise imp.Retri

I'm referring to 80. Divine Storm will actually lower your DPS in a long term rotation due to the timing and cooldowns of CS and Judgements. TO use it properly you would actually have to use Divine Judgement every other, other time. Mentally timing that would be difficult

Re: Level 80 Ret Paladin spec w/ spell rotations.

Do keep in mind that you may not need imp Might. Remember that in recent patches Might no longer stacks with Battle Shout from Warriors, which I am sure will be up in a raiding type environment. I would suggest something like...

    http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?talent=sZ0xZEfbtMIufMsguAo - Raiding lvl 70

    http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?talent=sZ0xZEfbtMIufMsguAo - Raiding lvl 80

In a raid situation it is often nice to have imp BoP for the clothies as well as being able to resist stuns to keep your dps going. Macroing Avenging Wrath into your rotation, with its 2min cooldown, is just like a trinket and will boost your dps and make sure you are using it to its potential. Save it for times when you think you need it if you like, but I find I do more dmg when it is just used when its up.

Anyway, just my two cents from a guy from Beta

Re: Level 80 Ret Paladin spec w/ spell rotations.

Ok Pepsicola, it seems the finally updated the talents on Wowhead. So here is what we are looking at I can give you a break down:

    Spec -> http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?talent=sVZ0xZVfbx0IufMsguAo

You will notice there are 3 remaining talent points to spend, I'll explain that later. I'm quite bored so I will just go through each talent point with an explanation:

    Retribution Tree

    Tier 1
Deflection 0/5 - Not needed, you should not be getting attacked and should be attacking from behind (when possible.)
Benediction 5/5 - Self explanatory. Saves mana, allowing longer rotations.

    Tier 2
Imp. Judgements 2/2 - Prior to 3.0.2, putting 1/2 points in this talent actually increased your DPS by not allowing CDs to overlap. Not sure if this is the case anymore.
Heart of the Crusader 3/3 - A baked in 3% crit. Crit procs Vengeance. Vengeance is gooood!
Imp. Blessing of Might 2/2 - 25% increase to BoM. I believe that put it to a 305 AP buff.

    Tier 3
Vindication 0/2 - Bosses are immune to this effect. Trash is usually not, but until bosses can be affected by this, it is a waste of talent points.
    Conviction 5/5 - Self explanatory
Seal of Command 0/1 - Not needed for PvE. If you are looking into a strictly PvE build, you will be using Corruption (Horde) or Wrath (Alliance). They are currently the best raid DPS.
Pursuit of Justice 0/2 - Not needed for PvE

    Tier 4
Eye for an Eye 0/2 - Not needed for PvE. You should not me getting hit (exceptions aside).
Sanctified Seals 3/3 - Another 3% to crit on all spells and attacks.
Crusade 3/3 - Tooltip points towards a total of 6% damage increase, not sure if it is a tooltip type. Regardless you will be getting this. Flat damage increase.

    Tier 5
    2H Weapon Specialization 3/3 - Self explainatory.
Sanctified Retribution 1/1 - Raid wide 3% inscrease.
Divine Purpose 2/2 - Not needed for PvE really, but nicer for heavy AoE fights. Maybe even fights where your tank gets stunned.

    Tier 6
Vengeance 3/3 - This used to be our main source of damage when we relied on auto attacking for our DPS. Heavily nerfed since then Vengeance still provides a very generous 9% increased damage with 3 stacks up.
Imp. Ret. Aura 0/2 - This one is more up to you. The 25% more damage can mean more threat for your tanks. You have 3 extra points to spend. It is up to you.

    Tier 7
The Art of War 2/2 - (TALENT RECENTLY CHANGED!) Now increases flat damage from Judgements, CS and DS by 10% (instead of increasing crit. damage). This is a burst nerf but a sustained DPS increase. Plus an instant FoL is awesome for topping yourself off.
Repentance 1/1 - A prerequisite to get to Fanaticism. Not as useless as it used to be since it works "on any mob with a brain" and lasts for 1 minute.
Judgements of the Wise 3/3 - (TALENT RECENTLY CHANGED!) Now refunds only 15% base mana on a Judgement (previously 33%). Still vital to PvE and doing a standard rotation you should still not run out of mana.

    Tier 8
Fanaticism 5/5 - Vital to Pve for sustained and reducing threat.
Sanctified Wrath 2/2 - Hammer of Wrath no longer resets or clips your auto-attack. It is usable in a PvE rotation now. Reduces CD of Wings is is an excellent DPS boost.

    Tier 9
Swift Retribution 3/3 - 3% passive haste buff to you and the raid. Nasty.
Crusader Strike 1/1 - Self Explanatory
Sheath of Light 3/3 - Increases Seal damage and heals for those on-the-spot emergency heals.

    Tier 10
Righteous Vengeance 5/5 - (TALENT RECENTLY CHANGED!) Now applies a "Deep Wound" effect to the target on Critical Strikes dealing 40% damage over 8 seconds. Good for sustained DPS.

    Tier 11
Divine Storm 1/1 - An extra instant attack. Unfortunately it is hard to work properly into a long term rotation due to its overlap and CD time. Still it is extra damage until a proper rotation is figured out.

    Protection

    Tier 1
Kings and Imp. Kings 0/0 - Don't bother, some other Paladin will have it
Divine Strength 5/5 - Personal DPS boost.

    Holy

    Tier 1
Seals of the Pure 5/5 - You will be using Seal of Corruption/Wrath for PvE. Because of the stat merger, the DoT now ticks for a strong amount and actually provides more sustained DPS than Seal of Blood.

You now have 3 points (or 1 if you put 2 into Imp. Ret. Aura) that you can put anywhere. If you have 1, might as well put it into Seal of Command for that PvP on the side. If you have 3 left, it is up to you to see what you might benefit from more in a raid be it dodge, parry, or hell; even Healing Light in the Holy Tree. Up to you I guess.

If you have any questions or need further explanation, just ask.

Edit: Not that this shouldn't be taken as the "end all" spec. I could be wrong on a few points. Like it was previously mentioned. Imp. Battle Shout is actually stronger than Imp. Might and so BoM might not be needed. It all depends on your raid makeup and what someone else is specced. You can always adjust.

imo. SoC will still be what you use to solo because killing yoursef while soloing isnt really a great idea. The pts in guardian's favor are kinda just there because theres nothing else to do with them. A holy paladin will take imp might, so you wont have to (maybe take thati nstead of guardians favor just in case). Taking kings helps prots and holys because they can use their pts elsewhere. Other than that, you get all the dps talents.

He is speaking from a PvE Raiding perspective. He will be using Seal of Corruption/Wrath. Not SoC. Even without SoC, using SoB solo isn't a problem, with the stat merge, healing yourself with a few Flash of Lights is no problem anymore.
