    New Tank Champ...

So in TBC, after a shaky start, the best tank later in the game for me personally became the Tankadin (Protection Paladin). After the changes and with the release of the WOTLK so far, which is your favorite Tank. Which class makes you feel all fluffy inside when you get in a PUG and see it as tank? Like in tbc, whenever most people got in a group and saw a Tankadin, most people usually instantly feel it's going to be a fast and easy run.

PS: Please no, "the one with the best skill and gear" :, whenever people say that I feel like "DUH" ofcourse every class rocks when the person behind the class knows what they are doing. But in PUGs there is usually a perception of the class before the run even begins. ;D

    Re: New Tank Champ...

either tankadin or unholy dk...why? cuz its an aoe massacre, u can go allout aoe nuke on mobs and never worry bout getting aggro

(not saying other tanks cant do this) unholy dk and tankadin just make it look easy

    Re: New Tank Champ...

Paladins and warriors are even. Druids are worst. DK's only slightly better.

as a healer, I find DK's to be very squishy, perhaps I havent met the right one yet..

we are more squishy, the thing is... dks that use their cooldowns on good times are easy to keep up
DK's that use their cooldown only when they are in trouble are hard to heal

    Re: New Tank Champ...

yea the unholy dpser of the same level as me was constantly pulling aggro at bosses, and I'm full epic ffs

    Re: New Tank Champ...

yeh, since when im not tanking im playing unholy dps, and in blood presence (not frost =p)
    i experienced same problems
when a warr tanks i had to tone down my dps in order not to get aggro
where with a DK/druid/pala tank i could just go all out, dunno why this is

    Re: New Tank Champ...

Im playing a warrior, and tbh, I can AoE tank way better than other classes atm.

    Thunderclap does shitloads of threat.
Out talent thing that does 20% of blockvalue as damage everytime I block
    And ofcourse, Shockwave.

Basically, with thunderclap + damaging shield (the 20% return damage) alone can do 1k tps easily! And If id focus my threat on single target (bosses), I can achieve 4.5-5k tps.

With the good gear now, I only take DPSers with me to heroics and AE everything.

Havent tried other classes, but Im just trying to way, that warriors are now insanely good AoE tanks.

imo warrs are wthe worst aoe tanks, when comparing to others, now it might have sumthing to do with skill aswel
but i havent seen a warr that could keep aggro from all mobs when i went all out aoe
    where other tankclasses could...

only thing good about paladins was they could clear trash fast none ever picked em for MTs *edit: referring to pre wotlk*

and even now paladins have like 5k! less health than druids

i havent seen a proper DK tank yet but looks intresting every bloody dk i see atm is like "im dps!" but yet their willing to roll vs me on tanking items!

if they need a dps , then i wil dps
i will both need on dps and tank gear, because i do need both
    i dont see the problem

blood DK deserves a mention, even though their aoe is limited. their health return abilities make healing (esp in boss fights that involve mving around) extremely easy.

Depends on the fight. Sometimes we use a War, sometimes we use a Druid. DK OT, but always bring all three.

With thunderclap / shockwave / thunderclap i never lost aggro as a warrior. Paladins seem to be great too, never saw a DK or druid tank.

    Re: New Tank Champ...

I've leveled and done all the instances as a frost tank, and now I've done all the heroics as a frost tanks.
I never lose aggro, and I'm much easier to heal than when I went unholy (lasted about a day, not nearly as fun).
Everyone I've been with loves me!

    Naxx coming this weekend heckyes.

    Re: New Tank Champ...

I have issues with Warr tanks and holding threat in aoe while i am healing them, Specially when they have >23k hp. We have a DK as our guild MT and he has been awesome. All heroics and most of Naxx. I prefer him in Frost but unholy is not bad either for faster clearing.
at the tp, we have the pally. They hold agro like crazy, do not require me to mass heal them 24/7 and bring buffs for all to appreciate.
