    my unholy tank spec

    Evening All.
The following spec i come up with is what i intend on leveling with and tanking if needed. I was wondering if its solid enough to do so and if its usable as a tank spec for heroics too.

EDIT: lol forgot the link sorry

You'll be fine on regular 5-mans, but a Frost spec is usually preferred for Heroics until you have enough Dodge/Parry to make Bone Shield last 20 seconds.

Edit: Also, grabbing Imp Icy Touch in Frost is suggested, as it reduces incoming melee and ranged damage by 6%; it's especially useful on AoE melee pulls.

Well at the very least, I'd take the 3 points out of virulence and put them into Improved icy touch, but other than that if this isn't a dedicated tanking spec its alright. If you wanted to tank heroics though, I'd at least drop into tier 3 of frost and grab lichborne, its an incredible tanking talent and our best "oh shit" button IMO. Also, I think On a Pale Horse is pretty pointless outside of PvP and Blood Caked Blade isn't worth it considering you'll we wielding a slower 2her and most of your damage isn't white damage anyway. Inpurity would give you more dps and threat, given the high amount of spell damage you cause as unholy. Perhaps something like this:

How much Dodge/Parry is needed to spec back to unholy? I like frost, but I've been doing much more dps with my unholy specc. Maybe this will change when howling p. isn't on cooldown.

This is what I run around with. (Grinding/Soloing/Heroics/Raids)

It does what I need it to do.

You want something to level with and tank heroics with. Typically when you're levelling, it's all about getting to 80 as quickly as possible, so a lot of the talents I have above aren't useful in that aspect.

I'd suggest something like this for levelling and tanking normal dungeons on your way to 80. Then just respec at 80 to a proper tanking spec.

Butchery is awesome while levelling and grinding. I kind of miss it now, but can't fit it into a tanking spec just for the few times I grind out dailies.

Where's the fun of not having a few throw away points?

I like seeing the random ghoul names and blowing the gargoyle on random crap from time to time.

ur job is to hold threat and mitigate damage not worry about dpsing down targets

Sure, this is just about perfect. I'm not a fan of Lichborne, but if you find that it's worth it, by all means.

Also, to the people who post tank specs without Dirge-- good luck. Unholy single-target isn't the best off the getgo, and that's not going to be helped by losing 500 threat every scourge strike.
