I remember i think i found one but i have no recollection. Does anyone know of a website where you type in the character's name and server and it shows an estimation of how much DPS they can cough up?

pretty controversial site (and concept) though.. :
There are hundreds, but considering it uses such a simple interface Maxdps.com is pretty good. For more exact info google a spreadsheet for your particular class.

I think the only class that it doesnt work with at this time is Rogue. With this app you can input raid scenarios and change gearing and it will simulate your DPS output.
lol you put your % to block in your sig pic...just saying i thought that was a little funnyOriginally Posted by Nut
ooooo right that was it. thanks a tonOriginally Posted by Maree
not sure if those things take into account player skill..
when i get a new piece of gear i just bring up recount and the stop watch and dps for 5 minutes and see how it averages out. I think that's fairly accurate since i usually get the same numbers as i do in Heroics.
It a nice offline way of checking it out.Originally Posted by Elementium
Lol, I went to this and it is way off for an arcane mage. It only gives arcane blast spam or AB x3>Frostbolt as dps rotations, rofl.Originally Posted by Maree
All of above is nowhere even close to a realistic output.
Try http://code.google.com/p/simulationcraft/ , use your own stats, your correct raid buffs, and run 100000 iterations.
Should give a very reliable number.
maxdps.com is BS, avoid it like fire.

ur arcane there is ur first problemOriginally Posted by Crypticburnz
Yep. This. The same site that reccomends 170 spell hit as the "hit cap" for level 80 Boomkin druids. Lol.Originally Posted by Grindfreak

Then you obviously havent seen the huge buff to arcane mages, and if they are willing to pay for whats need to make arcane amazing, its the best mage spec for pure dps.Originally Posted by eaglestalon
Stay away from maxdps.com
-flat out wrong information
If you would notice how the site works before attacking it you would realize that they thought boomkin sucked so bad that they never actually bothered to update them to Wrath status. They were most likely right seeing even cat in most cases can out dps boomkin druids in single target dps.Originally Posted by Surfd
That being said. All I really use maxdps.com for is their gear lists. They are normally correct about which gear is best in slot. Sometimes I simply don't agree with them though. The site is a tool. Players should be able to tell for themselves what stats they need and what dps they normally do before going there. If they can't then that would be their issue.
"The round, metal cooking utensil referring to the larger, cookware customarily used for, but not limited to, stews, as being of a dark shade or possibly of African descent." ~~ Fixed for now. But keep in mind any one of the words used in that fix may become politically incorrect or offensive at any moment for any reason. Further amendments may be required to prevent frivolous lawsuits in the future.
I use this as a way of seeing where I can go to get upgrades to my gear (If you understand your class and what your toon needs). However, I don't and wouldn't recommend it as a way of checking your dps.Originally Posted by Maree
