I'm probably whining about the site architecture and not a particular ad, but it is a problem either way.

You guys' AJAX rotating ad banners can bring a mobile device to its knees. The site just isn't useable on a phone if I have JavaScript enabled, as it's constantly downloading new ads over a slow cell connection.

I realize it's probably a huge boost in revenue for MMOc, since this little trick generates a dozen ad loads per page instead of just one. But your ads aren't doing any good if us on-the-go people can't browse the site at all.

It would be really nice if you could check the User-Agent header for a mobile browser and NOT do the rotating banner in that case.

I've been getting occasional blurbs from Avast about something attempting to download files while browsing the site. The computers here at work are using Google Chrome with no extra widgets (like, say, AdBlock Plus), allow JavaScript normally, and obviously, they all run Avast. I do not have these issues while browsing at home using Chrome... however, I also have AdBlock Plus on my home computer and block all ads.

I'm not sure which ads are causing this, but it does happen fairly consistently.

Can you get a screenshot of the ads which are up when you get the message or the message itself, or get the location of the file?

Yeah, I'll fire up IE since it lets pretty much everything through, should make it easy to spot the troublesome ads. We had a rash of viruses popping up on these computers a month ago, which is why I had to install Avast on them. The viruses were the "Win 7 Antivirus" type that purport to be an antivirus that's detected a virus (it actually just points to core Windows files, which if deleted would ruin your system) and are a pain in the ass to remove.

I don't know where they came from. I do know that a lot of the girls that work here like to use Facebook and they use IE, so I'm expecting it came from there. I'll see if I can find some specific ads that are causing problems.

I'm getting autoplay for the same Purina add, and one for Lysol, both on the front page and in the forum view of the Off-Topic forum.

How many times have I loaded pages at Mmo-champion today? A lot.

Everytime an Ad for Essaouira shows up I get a DL request popup (IE9) saying

Do you want to open or save pcon.js (21 bytes) from www.wtp101.com?

Seems like a dodgy to me

Im not sure if this is a a bad add, but its annoying. I normaly have a couple tabs open when checking the forums, go open up like 3 posts then read them. But this week this has happened twice, second time was just now, one of the page reloads then goes to this survey site, both times it was the same site, and has only happened to me on mmo. And ive gone back a page to look at the adds on mmo, and none of them were even about the survey thing. But ya has only happened to me on mmo so has to be from some kind of add from it.

    Heres the link

    Edit: Just got it again.

Threat detected by Microsoft Security Essentials while I was looking at this page:
    http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/...4#post16477434

Dunno if it's something in one of the sigs or the Ads (Evony banner, Grepolis at the bottom).

Can you get rid of the "Congratulations, you won!" ads. These ads are on every fucking page and they repeatedly play audio. It's annoying as fuck when you have like 4 tabs open and they are all shouting shit at you.

I have been having similar "Congratulations, you won!" type ads all over the site for the past week or so. I don't think they have been playing audio, but I can't be certain. However, they do do some excessive flashing.

Strange thing is that I was trying to get a screenshot/do the steps listed in the OP, but now no ads are showing:

I do use Adblock Plus, but I have mmo-champion whitelisted so ads do (usually) come through.

Edit: to be clear, when Adblock Plus is enabled (so blocking ads from mmoc), the white frames where the adds should be don't even show up.

I'm not sure if this is ad related or not, but it seems to be. Every now and then, when loading a page on the forums, my browser will jump to the bottom, and each time will have an error message where the ads are

Can you get the full text of that error message? The url it's trying to load would be helpful too (poke me on IRC when it happens if you're not sure how).

Also, we're aware that there might be a few sound ads today and we're trying to get rid of them; if anyone can provide screenshot + clickthrough link of any remaining ones, it would help.

The double auto playing 'interactive ads' at the bottom are becoming increasingly annoying.

In fact there was another below this as I made this post.

They are flash ads and the only info I can obtain for you is: Hiro Version: 2.9.0.13891.ybryant

please please get rid of them.

I'm getting even more flashy "you won!" ads, although now with a twist:

Viewing this from Australia, using Chrome 19.0.1084.36 beta-m. Was the second page I viewed this session (this page is the fifth, and has the same ads).
