T7.5 High End Gearing

I am in the lucky position of having 4/5 T7.5 and am wondering what other tanking DK's are doing with that 5th slot.  Let's assume you could have any 4 of the 5 slots filled with Valourous; which slot would you leave as non-tier and what lvl 213 item would you have equipped in it? I'm assuming many will say legs and are using the Heroic Malygos legs (Legplates of Sovereignty), but I could also see using the headpiece from Gothik (Helm of Vital Protection).

Also, item lvl213 trinkets are meh for tanks; even the item lvl213 sigil is DPS oriented.  I'm curious to know what trinks are being used by tank DKs who are farming Heroic Naxx.  Personally I'm still using Valor Medal of the First War, and Repelling Charge.

i use the helm of vital for my 5th slot because i dont need the exper any more off maly legs all it owuld be is the stm, so i would rather keep the hit off the t7.5 legs, and the only difference in the two helms is one has like 12 more stm and the other one has like 12 more parry rating

as for trinkets....meh.....im lucky and have my amazing JC one so thats nice, but yea the dodge trink is better than the parry one anyways becuse of diminishing on parry for DKs i actually use Dmoon card greatness now just for the awsome threat spike it gives, atleast for blood

as for your spec in general i owuld drop all the parry/watever gems for dodge/watever gems because of the str convert into parry the rating is much higher no matter wat and the diminishing returns starts quickly, ur guna gain only a very small amount of avoidence but its noticable, btw drop swordshattering for stoneskin so u can lose the def gems and switch trinkets out besides that

overall for the 5th slot....maly legs=uber exper and if ur over like 8.5% its meh....

I just took stoneskin garg off my weap last night; had 561 defense with it. Am going to try this for a bit, but will take your suggestion about gargoyle under advisement. thanks!

SSG runeforge is not affected by DR. So at any defense level it gives the full Defense Skill per avoidance conversion.

At level 80 you get .04% dodge/parry/miss per 1 defense skill...SSG gives 25 skill so it gives 1% dodge, 1% parry, and 1% miss. Coupled with the stamina boost it beats SS without a doubt...for now.

We may run into alot of disarming Iron Vrykul's/Dwarve's in Ulduar which would make SS a better option, but it's doubtful.

Just wear 5/5 Valorous. Who cares if theres somthing slightly better, you'll look BA.

im wearing full t7.5 because every other ilvl213 item is just "playing with stats" gives -0,x% dodge but +0,x% other stat. it isnt worth at the moment to think about "what should i wear". the only thing maybe stile or something else to use another item.

ps: ssg is crap... at ilvl 213gear you dont really need def at your weapon when you can get 4% parry... and the 2% sta boost ... lol? .... 700 hp maybe a little more ... ^^

Why would you use the Helm of Vital Protection over Valorous? It's not better in any stat, the +12 stam is a yellow gem socket bonus, so you'd be giving up 1 stam, 12 str, and 2 parry for 8 (insert yellow gem stat here).

BTW all you SSG haters, go ask a non-dk tank what they would rather have, 50 stam or 1% avoidance. Just think about 2 pieces of gear with that kind of disparity, and tell me which one you would wear. Duh.

Please go back and re-read original post. Then, if inclined, make a suggestion on what you WOULD do, rather than what you would not do. Full T7.5 or replace one slot (which one) with something else (what) was the original question.

I guess the obvious answer, as many have said above is the legs for the Maly or Sarth ones.

Trinkets though i'm not sure about. I have 4 very nice ones :-

Essence of Gossamer
Repelling Charge
Rune of Repulsion

Diffcult to say which are best in a Dk sense as tbh they are all worth getting. My personal favourites are the dodge parry ones. Where stats wise, you would probably be better of with the other 2 unless you are a jc or alchemist. For me personally having 2 seperate +avoidance buttons to press gives you far more options than the other 2 and can help give you burst threat by making sure RS is up for the duration of the buff.

Haha so right. Love all those people that troll the forums yet fail at reading.
In all honestly dude, just go for the full set. Its not that much different wat piece you should chuck out. What the most you going to get ?? 12 more stam ?? 0.4% more dodge or parry ??
When your at that level of gears, changing a piece of gear here and there wont matter much at all.

Yep, I dug in and looked up every item lvl213 piece and there weren't ANY that seemed a better fit than the actual tier piece.

I like the extra hit from the chestpiece from heigan25. But have a few pieces in general to swap around, depending what i need/want for a certain fight.

As for trinkets, i tend to use 1 dps trinket as it makes it that much easier to fight for threat against 6k dpsers ^^
