    Icebound Fortitude glyph

Hey. I've been wondering if the glyph for IBF in 3.1 (30% dmg redux, regardless of skill) means that any additional scaling would occur on top of the glyphed reduction, or would it just overwrite the 30% glyph if defense skill makes it greater than 30%?

    Re: Icebound Fortitude glyph

It means with the glyph active, you will always have 30% dmg reduction. If you wear defgear the reduction will then increase even more, similar to live right now.

In other words - if you're a tank, it's worthless.

    Re: Icebound Fortitude glyph

some people say it increases the base to 30%, followed by amount gained from def

tho it might be a rumor, can someone test?

    Re: Icebound Fortitude glyph

what it reads and what it does could be diff

like how blood strike glyph was affecting heart strike

like i said - test before saying

Just think about it. An average tank would get like 60-70% off.

    they said 540 = 35%

that being bumped to 45% when the cd was also bumped to 2mins isnt that huge

Okay, lets pretend to read it wrong and pretend that it does add, even though it doesn't.

It would bump a 540 defense DK from 35% to 45%. Not even worth considering using a Major Glyph for that. Not even a little bit.

Also, since when was IBF CD 2 mins?

    Re: Icebound Fortitude glyph

    striked that

i read they bumped the other cds to 2mins - UA/BS/VB guess IBF missed the change

and all im saying is "test it"

    Re: Icebound Fortitude glyph

Just got off the PTR doing 1min tests (3 uses of IBF)

    230-300 - 0 Defense, No IBF

    180-240 - 0 defense, IBF

    130-180 - 540 defense, IBF

    110-150 - 540 defense, Glyphed IBF

Mobs used to test = Roaming Jormunger outside of Hodir
    230-300
    180-240 or 20% reduction
    130-180 or 40% reduction
    110-150 or 50% reduction

Imo this seems like a must have glyph for tanking

Anyone is free to test it on something thats bigger and hits harder, I just didnt have a healer with me so was unable to

    Re: Icebound Fortitude glyph

I tested it as well and came to the same conclusion, IBF glyph raises the base damage reduction from 20% to 30% after which def is applied, on live with 565 def, using rune of stoneskin garogyle, I reach 45% damage reduction, on PTR with the exact same gear I get 55% damage reduction.

I have no idea why people keep saying its crap without even testing it, this was the first thing I tested on PTR and I came to the conclusion its a must have glyph for any tank now.

    Re: Icebound Fortitude glyph

so... that leaves 1 major glyph. which is pretty sad cause that limits alot of specs :S

540 defense is 42'ish, if I'm not mistaken.

Also, if you're a tank, this glyph is worthless.

I'm gonna keep using UBA, Obl and FS.

How is it worthless if it bumps the base by 10% and it will continue to scale from there?

The glyph sounds to me like you simply get +10% to whatever you currently would have now on live.

And 540defense = 35% damage reduction as per what a blue said.

[Blizzquote author=Blizz Staff]Icebound Fortitude now reduces damage by 20% instead of 50%. The amount of damage reduced increases with bonus Defense (to about 35% for 540 Defense, but can go higher).[/blizzquote]

We all know what blues say is accurate, amirite?

    400 Defence - 20%
    540 Defence - 41%
    550 Defence - 42.5%
    560 Defence - 44%
    570 Defence - 45.5%
    580 Defence - 47%
    590 Defence - 48.5%
    600 Defence - 50%

This, my friends, is the difference of being part of a serious forum, and being part of a forum full of trolls like this one.
    You actually get educated.

And that glyph would add like 3% overall damage reduction PROVIDING you pop IBF every time it's up. Is it worth a glyph slot? Hardly, I'd rather have my threat..

EDIT: That's only for frost, it's worse for blood and unholy. At 2%

That link shows absolutely no proof to back up what they posted. I'm not saying they are wrong, but its not 100% credible.

I fail to see the difference between yours and mine, just because a post is blue does NOT make it a fact.

Personally, i find someone who actually works for the company that runs the game to be more credible than some random person who is posting "facts" on their own.

I know blues aren't always right, but they are still more credible than a random person posting "facts" without any proper support backing their arguments.

I want to see proof that what they posted on DKinfo is true, then i will agree to it.

But all they did was post numbers, no actual stats on how they got them.
