    Feral Spirits

I'm fairly new to being Enh spec (only 2wks since 2nd spec) & was wondering about the best way to use Feral Spirits for a DPS boost (mainly in PvE)?
Is it just simply 'cast' them or should I then also be using use some of their spells as well? (Does using any of these spells cause any GCD with our spells?)

    Thanks

My opinion is Feral Spirit is more for PVP 1vs1 esspecialy good against casters

    Criteria:

    It can stun
U can run 60% with Feral Spirit
    It heals you
    It deals DPS

So its actually more for pvp U really should take spirit wolves

Don't play an enh shammy but i know this much.

Try to use them right before bloodlust because the benefit from it too. If you have any trinkets that buff your AP use that right before spirits as they scale with your AP. Make sure you have the +10% AP buff when you cast them.

    Re: Feral Spirits

cast them whne heroism/bloodlust is anounced and use hero/bl afterwards, let them auto charge so they get to dps asap, put them on agressive for bossfights.

use spirit walk (the snare removing sprint thing) on autocast, and when its not consumed that way and you need it, activate it when you need to cross a distance fast

    Thanks guys,

Tbh I had read their spells & couldnt see anyone being useful to increase dps.
99% of time I'm still PvE & PvP as Resto so just wanted to make sure I wasnt missing something when using them.

    Re: Feral Spirits

The only increase in DPS they do, is themselves.
They don't boost "your" dps up.

    Re: Feral Spirits

Pop them as soon as combat starts then every cooldown thereafter. The DPS gained from trying to time them with heroism/bloodlust is nothing compared to being able to use them 2 or even 3 times in a fight depending on the length. The only time I can think that I actually time them at a specific period is currently 4 Horsemen, as Spirit Walk is useful for running around. They don't boost your dps more then being additional source of dps every few minutes, however if used correctly, they can provide a pretty significant boost to your dps in the shorter or longer fights.

If you have any trinkets that buff your AP use that right before spirits as they scale with your AP. Make sure you have the +10% AP buff when you cast them.
They scale dynamically, as in when your AP increases, theirs does at the same time.. It's not like a DoT where there AP/crit/whatever is determined when you cast them (although is this still the case with these types of spells too?). They do benefit from most buffs though (including but not exclusivly Unleashed Rage and Windfury)

    Re: Feral Spirits

Spirit Wolves in PvE in boss fights are actually a really good damage increase, i used them on the dummies (i tried the feral spirit glyph to see what they can do) and with just my totems and auto attacking to give the +10% ap from UR they were kicking out a nice armount of damage. think with heroism i got them to almost 960 dps or something

So yeah they are for PvP as well, but theyre also useful for PvE encounters (spirit walk to break being frost nova'd in Holdir in Ulduar is just one example)

and like has been previously mentioned, summon the wolves then use heroism straight afterwards if you want to get the most out of them
Raining Pandarens because of the bouncy racial?

Have you actually tested this yourself? There have been plenty of actual tests by others on the board completely disproving this so unless you have tried it don't spout it out.

    Re: Feral Spirits

A good way to get them to really increase your Dps is by asking the person using heroism to give a countdown and just before they use it, pop them and a pot, I personally use wild magic but im sure haste is fine.

    Hope it helps. :P

    Re: Feral Spirits

Feral spirits are pretty good for PVP yes but they can be a really nice boost to PVE, personally i use glyph of feral spirit which increases the benefit they take from the shaman's AP by 30% and i try to use them when my berzerking enchants proc to maximize their AP and yes heroism is also a good boost and if you could combine both of those it would be great.

    Re: Feral Spirits

They're healing is really nice for PvE also. Time them for phase 2 of Mimiron or XT's tantrums.

    Re: Feral Spirits

In pve, use wolves all the time... every cooldown... unless i know i will have to bloodlust soon, so i save them for right before the BL..

also, it helps to pop trinkets right before you summon them...
    It's just a game.

Why would you use them on his tympanic tantrum when you can simply get more DPS on the heart if you use them during that phase? I hope your healers are competent enough to keep you up during a tantrum :P.

They count towards the shamans overall DPS, just like totems, and AoE, use them ALL THE TIME, time it out to not use them just before you get to the boss, altough 3 min is usually enough time before the boss fights start. I will use the snare removal all the time, and the taunt once in awhile, like if I see a caster getting smacked by random mob, send wolves over, hit taunt retarget main group send wolves over. This will usually pull the add to the aoe tank area.

tldr: USE THEM ALL THE TIME, they are a very nice boost to YOUR DPS, just make sure to get with the other shaman so they dont just pop BL/Hero that they let you get your wolves out, or ask to be the person that hits it when called for.

    get the glyph too...

    Re: Feral Spirits

With glyph, in full raid buff/proc when i pop them with hero, they can do 1800dps if they get alot of crits, How can you not see this as a dps boost

They scale in so far as they gain 31% of your AP. If you get AP procs they get extra 31% AP. They DO NOT "benefit from most buffs" they only benefit from passive buffs (auras, totems) and buffs cast directly on them after they are summoned. Since you are unlikely ever to persuade buffing classes to stop what they are doing and use some mana to throw a buff on your wolves, all they get is auras & totems. They benefit from strength getting 2 AP from 1 STR (yes blizzard never changed then during wotlk beta after they changed us to get 1 AP from str) they get nothing from Agi & Int buffs. Battle Shouts re-applied do work however and warriors should be encouraged to do this as other pets (eg:Treants) benefit from the re-applied buff too. I'm still on holiday so I can't check my notes on my testing if they benefit from windfury totem, I think they do but really can't recall.

I would assume they benefit from Windfury totem, as they also benefit from Berserking. I did a little testing and found a minor boost in their attack speed when I used Berserking right before the wolves came out, the Windfury buff also applied to them as well.

    Re: Feral Spirits

so you basically wait for dual berserk-proc, scream "ap-shout for wolves! " into the mic, pop trinkets and bloodfury/berserking, then bloodlust and THEN wolves!

    a little hectic though ;D

uh no, you would first get your wolves out before popping BL or they wont benefit..
