I remember druids taking in vanilla WoW. The trick was for the whole raid to be so overgeared that the crapness of druid tanks didn't cause a wipe.

So, not exactly what I'd call a viable tanking class.

gona have to disagree with you there, i successfully tanked multiple encounters in AQ40 when my guild was learning them and it didnt slow us down in any way sure its not every fight but theres more than enough there to say any decent druid could sufficiently fill the roll as a tank.

    Skeram - Clone pick up
    Bug Trio - Princess Yauj
    Satura - Boss bouncing
    Fankriss - Add spawns

Was even the same earlier in BWL
    Razorgore - tanking a corner
Vaelastrasz- dps(just behind the rogues)/tank if we ran out
Nef - Assisting one of the spawn points
