    Warrior History Lesson

It's time for a history lesson!

I present to you, the warrior's talent tree, cira 2004.

    http://www.war-tools.com/t63412.html

This is the talent tree that was in place at WoW's launch. This is after Indalamar's Black Rock Orc slaying video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJFwTcHA7oQ) but before the first "class revisions" and the Gnome warrior sit-in of 2004/2005.

    Notes About The Trees/Talents:

    Arms:

Hamstring - Reduced movement speed by 40%, talented to 60% speed reduction.
Pummel - Was an Arms ability gained at level 6.
Thunder Clap - Does 56 damage at rank 6 and did natural damage.
    Retaliation - 30m cooldown, 30s, no limit on counter-attacks

    Fury:

Beserker Stance - Increased melee haste by
Battle Shout - Cost 20 rage
Inner Rage - 5 minute cooldown ability, instantly generates 50 rage.
Intimidating Shout - Damage did not break the fear/cower effect of targets

    Protection:

Bloodrage - Generates 20 rage over 10 seconds (2 rage a second for 10 seconds untalented)
Taunt - Worked like EQ taunt; each use applied some threat to target; pound taunt over and over to generate threat.

Points of Interest in Old Tree:

    Arms:

Tactical Mastery needed to retain any rage when switching stances.
Rend and Deep Wounds are needed for Impale.
Deep Wounds does 60% weapon damage over 12s.
    Axes/Polearms are separate talents
Mortal Strike did 220% weapon damage. (With Worldcarver, top end damage with MS would be 2087 damage before AP or crit)

    Fury:

Improved Demoralizing Shout is a pre-req for Piercing Howl
    Enrage increases damage by 40%.
Improved Intimating Shout can make up to 4 targets (total) cower.
Improved Cleave allows cleave to hit up to 3 targets.
Bloodthirst does 100% damage on next attack after killing blow (ironically, this is it's nerfed form as it was in beta 100% chance to crit and 100% damage before Indalamar's video)

    Protection:

Last Stand had a longer cooldown and had a pre-req
Improved Taunt, improved it's threat generated.
Concussion Blow had a 1s cast.
    31 point talent was junk.

There's a reason warriors have been nerfed since day one.

    Re: Warrior History Lesson

I remember all this. Unfortunately there was no Tank or DPS gear for warriors, it was all in one. So your tanks had a lot of crit and your dps had a ton of defence.

If anyone was OP back then it was rogues.

I remember being able to kill HWLs of any class with full gear, when I was naked and had only one level 1 grey dagger. LOL

It was the best of times... It was the worst of times...Defiance still existed and taunt was the shit. Where have we gone? How have we fallen?...

    Yes! And no.

The problem with warriors at WoW's release was there was no way to break roots, no diminishing returns on snares or other forms of CCs, and no reduced duration of CC effects in PvP. You could be poly morphed/saped for the full PvE duration.

Beserker rage only broke fear effects, so sap/gouge could still work on it. There was also no PvP trinket to remove any CC effects. Once a Warrior was snared, that was about it. As you notice, there is no improved intercept and it's old cooldown time was 45 seconds.

There are old videos out there of a warrior in full Valor+Runeblade of Barron getting totally destroyed by a naked druid and a naked paladin (due to the fun but bugged old Seal of the Crusader).

So yes, they were deadly if they could get the jump on you, but because they were ridiculously easy to CC, any ranged class with a snare could beat them.

I remember that 31pt talent being the 11pt talent in the Resto Shaman Tree.

    Good times.
Everybody out of the god damn way. You got a hat full of bomb, a fist full of penis, and a head full of empty.
