Hello fellow players mates and all in between :P

This topic maybe here but i dont feel like reading hundreds of pages.

I had yesterday a discussion with my guild about daileys ( nothing special you say ) :-X then we came to the proffesion daileys from why there arn't any engineering daileys, so engineers can make new things ( which can be profiting to though engineering wasn't ment for that but for fun ) such as new mechanical pets ( such as cat, dog, wolf and whatnot ) or maybe new mounts such as a airplanes ( such as the ones you see when you go to scholazar for the first time ) if anyone thinks such a idea is fun not fun or sucks flame if you like just want to hear some opnions flamed > or not ;D

You sure do have flying mounts! An 800g rattling, clunking, and overall loud mount, in addition to a crappy profession which provides you with absolutely nothing for arenas and raiding. They will not buff it, or give new recipies. If they did give new recipies, you'd have fun with it for two weeks while the QQ storms build up on the forums, and then it's nerfed "because they see it as overpowered."

I'm of the mind that engineering is SO bad right now that if you have stuck with it till now you really should keep it because they can't possibly leave it as bad as it is for many more content patches.

This is how it goes:

Engineering usually got all the cool stuff, exploding sheeps, gnomish death ray, world enlarger, etc. They might not have been the most imba tools but they were certainly FUN.
Then comes aroud the trading card game and it changed to this:

TCG loot cards get all the cool stuff, a rocket chicken pet, storm generator, etc.

Well ... You can attach a rocket to your gloves, dealing ~1600 firedamage every 45 sec (no gcd), this thing can crit as well, so to say, it gives you 50 dps, far more than 20 agi enchantment does (for hunter eg.). And absolutely in line with jewelcrafting and blacksmithing bonuses.

Sry guys, you missed the best benefit from engeneering.

The Mimiron trash mob you can moutn up on should be a mount IMO.

Enineering is useless. Except for a few trinkets. You can sell very little of what you make and much of what you make requires engineering skill which makes the items useless to other players.

The death ray as the only real useful item out of the bunch and it did far more damage than any of my other attacks at that level.

The world enlarger and Orb of Deception are good for laughs though.

In my opinion, Engineering really doesn't compete with the other end-level professions.

Leatherworking can give you a Superior set of shoulders, belt, armor-addons... stuff you won't even replace until you get a tier-set.
Jewelcrafting gives gems with bonuses through the roof...
Engineers get a parachute cloak with a piddly stat-boost, nitro-boots for which you have to hand in your other enchantment. The only 'useful' thing sofar is the Electromagnetic disruptor on the belt to zonk out the XT-002 adds with if some escape.

Sure, we do get the fun toys but the risk of backfiring isn't worth it in heated combat. You don't want to risk a raid-wipe because your shrinkray hit you and everyone around you instead of reducing Razorscale to whelp size, do you?
What I'd like to see is something that gives Engineers an edge to compete with things another profession can do.

Add a buff to vehicles if a sufficiently skilled Engineer is riding in them. That might be fun for the Strand of the Ancients, Wintergrasp and the Flame Leviathan fight.
Give Engineers something they can do for someone else who does not have engineering. Make it something that will give folks pause and think about whether they want to have that +expertise or +defense enchant on their gloves, or maybe the Gnomish Auto Re-Arming Array that'll let you click the gloves and break a disarm/dismantle/whatever effect immediately once every minute or so...

Love engineering, love my toys... just saddened that 90% is so frigging useless and the bike only makes moochers beg for a ride from Goldshire to Lakeshire.

i became one because i like engineering IRL and i want the mounts ill eventually be able to make.
yeah, it is kinda useless for instances and raids and all that jazz...but its not like the other 9/24 people in ur group are gonna have proffs that are all equally useful.
