I stopped reading some of the replies cuz I am lazy.... :P

But I just wanted to say that the bonus you get from X racial really is not worth rerolling a 76. If you have a lot of time on your hands or you are really set on getting a racial that will benefit you, do it to it. Human would probably be the best choice for raiding, with the Spirit boost. The others would have PVP benefits (Nelf: Shadowmeld and 2% hit reduction, Draenei: Insta-heal and +hit, Dwarves: stoneform, even though it is nerfed from previous awesomeness). Really though, none of those are so amazing that you would need to reroll for them. (and being able to shadowmeld and save yourself a death is supersweet :P)

You can not change your race. Only sex/appearance and name.

And just incase you disagree, this is from their website:

This service lets you change your character's gender, face, hair and skin color, hairstyle, name, and other cosmetic features determined by their race and gender combination. You cannot, however, change your character's race or class.

It's only sex/looks, you cannot change your race and probably never will be able to.

However, leveled this toon in vanilla before the space goats "landed."

My vote: Don't reroll. The extra fade effect from Shadowmeld is very nice in my opinion, I wish I had it at times...

Also, once you go Dwarf you never go back :P

As an alt, it probably doesn't really matter what race you are. The Human Spirit is probably "optimal" for raiding, but eh. The big Human racial as far as I'm concerned is Diplomacy.

Personal preference, but I disagree. The free trinket is nice, but Shadowmeld + Quickness... I dunno. I just prefer that. I mean, as a Priest, there is no other way to get that kind of avoidance and I have noticed that if I run and Shadowmeld outside of the start area, it confuses the hell outta people :P I guess what I am saying is you can get the PVP trinket, you won't find another way to get 2% avoidance. AND that the spirit boost for PVE does make Humans the better choice.

Night Elf tanks get 2% more avoidance.
That is actually a pretty big bonus, especially if your a DK tank that AoE tanks alot of things.

Dranie hit isnt just 1%, its 5% when your raiding. If you have a goat in each group that is 25% hit.
And that means every dpser can use an extra +19 spell gem or +16 str gem instead.

Example -
15 dps x 19 spell gem = 135 spell power more for the raid.
or
15 dps x 16 strength gem = 240 str which is approx an extra 500 ap since str is increasing with kings.

I have been tempted as well, yes, I have... But then I log in and see her cute orange pigtails, freckles, and big cans, and think "Why would I throw this toon away?"

if you want to reroll for racial, don't do it, it's not worth it and racial can be changed or nerfed at anytime. If you want to reroll because you don't like your toon's looks or animation, then go ahead.

i made my priest human because they look neutral in gear and their cast animation are tolerable. back in BC human priests were pretty good for reputation grinding and perception do save your butt in pvp a lot, but now that both of those things are either nerfed or became less important.

Unless you're aiming to be a really hardcore PvPer (and I dunno if the racials matter much there whether you'll survive or not) you shouldn't switch just for a racial. Hell, I'd pick appearance over racials for reasons to reroll. However, I must say i do love shadowmeld as a nelf, just as much as I love diplomacy as a human. It's all situational as well as about taste.
