Iv also posted numerous videos about shaman tanking. Though i do not recommend rolling a shaman for a main tank class, I tank maly/emalon every week. I practice in heroics every day due to the difficult nature of holding threat with strength tanking accessories. I rely heavily on misdirect classes for aoe pulls because shaman simply dont produce enough aoe threat to hold aggro. With practice however, shaman do have the ability to tank 5man heriocs and 10mans better than any mediocre geared tank in t7. In 25mans and ulduar the amount of self heal and absorb the shaman brings does not make up for the obvious lack of avoidance (where in 10mans and 25naxx a critical heal can make up for an entire hit taken, a stoneclaw absorbs half to 75% of a hit).

Awesome job. How the hell do you keep aggro over regular dps shaman? Do the rest of the raid have to spam Windshocks or what?

our dps used a wind shock heavy rotation and magma totem (with full threat reduction talents.) I used frost shock (which deals x2 threat per damage) and had no threat reduction talents, so i was able to wear gear that was rich in agil, resil, defense, and stam. Aoes are difficult on a shaman, i have to throw a lightning bolt/lava burst/chain lightning every target upon pulling so the healers don't pull aggro, and chain lightning whenever Maelstrom procs between 3 and 5. When iv lost aggro on something i pull out my wolves or earth elemental (which both have an aoe taunt).
We did this with a mostly pug group, but we gave our shaman some ideas how we would offtank for the drakes and the adds, and it turned out to be pretty unique.

Of course it would have been easier, both of those classes have tank specs. All Shamans is what makes this worth posting about.

Think resi also works towards being non crit-able by bosses tho it doesnt give avoidance.

its resilience, ye, i tought it doesnt work in pve, but he mentioned he was using resilience heavy gear (as you can see), check chance to be critted by defense+resilience, its 1.36%+4.49% = 5.85% reduced chance to be critically hit, and with bosses having 5.6% chance, he is obviously uncrittable


also, very nice work man, i was thinking about leveling shaman and tanking with it for a while, this gave me wings \o/

They are changing resilience yet again. This will not work come 3.2 if they implement how they want to.

Just a quick headsup, anyone with some tanking gear(and a shield) can do 10-man bosses, it's just a matter of healers keeping up.

There are only 3 classes that use shields. Two of the three classes can use tanking specs or have better defensive talents as a none tank spec then enhancement.

So yes, a shaman tanking is a cool thing.
