Hi, my name is Deyman and I'm an altoholic.

As the title of this thread reads I have decided to lvl a warlock soon

I would appriciate if someone could make a lvling spec in the affliction tree for me! (That's the best one for lvling a lock, is it?)

    Ty.

    Hi, Deyman.

Then do whatever you want. Note that the level 30 build will take a massive change in playstyle from what you just did 1-30. Get used to it, and aim for about 100 spell power by lvl 35 and you will completely destroy everything.

For leveling alone demonology is probably the easiest, for group quest's etc. For less downtime drinking then affliction is better, and for burst but alot of downtime go for destro.

    I prefer demonology .

I recently played a Druid 1-55 and I have to say: if it says "Group 2+" don't do it. It is a better use of your time to run to some dungeon in the middle of nowhere with a lvl 80 and clean the place out than it is to attempt a group quest solo, or spec yourself in order to do so.

Keep in mind that this does not apply to Outland group quests, where a Felguard Warlock can solo all of them. Here's a brief list of all the ones I solo'd with no problem:

    Drillmaster (Hellfire)
    Matriarch (Hellfire)
    Strider (Zang)
    Dual Nagas (Zang)
    Bone Worm (Terrokar)
    Harbringer of Light (Terrokar)
    Spider (Terrokar)
Everything in Nagrand, even the Artruis demon chain
Everything in Netherstorm, even Netherock (cleave lol)

Solo'd with some problems due to adds:
    Overlord (Hellfire)
    Colossi (Hellfire)
    The Demon dude in Terrokar
    Everything in Blades Edge

    Hell, I even solo'd Ursoc.

Yeah, the fg/sl build rocks for Northrend. I think my favorite moment was soloing the "Really Big Worm" quest in Northern Dragonblight.

You know that quest in Icecrown where they make you attack a huge elite vrykul/nerubian/something else with the aid of an ebon blade knight? I soloed two of them before I realized what I had to do. OMG, it took so freaking long though.
Your comments are duly noted and ignored.

Nice, smooth post mate, very clear for starting locks .
I levelled Affliction from 70--> 80, simply because I wanted as low downtime as possible, with some nice health regen.Btw, if you have Dual Spec to level up, I'd go for Affli for normal questing, and deep Demo for solo'ing bosses.

    Peace out

Re: Hi, my name is Deyman and I'm an altoholic.

It means Soul link/Siphon life(talent combination) which means that you take less damage, and get heals , was op @ TBC PvP

Its a code that stands for a crime against humanity. During Burning Crusade, the only way you could PVP was 31/21/0 +9, and even then it was pretty bad. The only reason it was successful was fear - it could take about 5k damage before breaking (40% of health pool) whereas now it takes less than 3k (10% of health pool). Thus every lock would have a justified reason to complain (pigeon-hole spec that did crap damage) and every non-lock could simply reply "l2p fear moar" because of how op the cc was.

    I'm not bitter :P

    @Everyone suggesting affliction for Northrend

I'm sure half of you had a few purples when Northrend opened up. I played a 67 warlock in greens on beta as well as my 80 warlock in 4pc T6.

With the underpowered warlock as affliction, I hit Northrend with 400 spell power and spent 20s killing one mob, and did NOT generate more health than I lost. The mobs crit for ~700, which was 10% of my health pool. I spec'd FG/Destruction for a few levels and got to 900 spell power, then went back to Affliction. Felguard was still superior, but I knew the affliction playstyle like the back of my hand and thus it worked out faster to me.

On my T6 lock, I downgraded to Timbal's, Ashtongue Talisman, and 2pc T5 (pet heals) and completely owned Northrend. Realm first Gnome/Warlock, 36 hours played across three days. My felguard might have been faster but nothing says "I'm finishing this quest before you, bitch" like 8 mobs chasing you and slowly dying, without ever getting close to dying. When I hit Zul'drak was when I started using Haunt and Unstable Affliction.

Affliction is faster, but requires the gear to do it. Felguard build, due to demonic knowledge, makes up for this gap.

Hmm, well I haven't levelled my warlock any since TBC, but I remember affliction was a blast levelling through Outlands. I had no trouble soloing most group quests. And dotting up 6-7 mobs at a time and ending up with full hp/mana was always nice. I dunno if the affliction tree has been gutted since, but it -was- really great for levelling, even at lower levels. Demon always felt too slow to me, and destro is(was?) a very thirsty spec.

Affliction was nerfed slightly from 2.0 to 2.1 with the druids. Felguard got buffed. Destro isn't thirsty anymore (3.1), and keeps pace with affliction, but the sheer capacity of felguard puts both to shame.

The problem isn't that Affliction is a bad spec in outlands or northrend. It's that your tank (voidwalker) sucks balls and the curve for gaining spell power doesn't keep up with the curve for incoming damage until halfway through. For example, if you took a 3.0 warlock fresh into northrend, they would have to use all three dots (corr, agony, siphon) and have the pet on auto attack in order to kill it. Meanwhile, your paltry 100-200 siphon life heals per three seconds don't compare to the incoming damage of 500 per swing, 800 crits every 3 seconds. It would take until you're done dragonblight (including elites) to get enough spell power to come out ahead, and even then you have Zul'Drak around the corner where mobs start having 12k hp and you have to add UA to the mix. Haunt helps, but not enough.

Most of the locks I see in PvP are destro.
I once did get 3 shotted by a lock in heirlooms (immolate, conflagerate, chaosbolt) on my ret pally with 2.3k hp and around 700 resi.

That was the off chance though (he didn't have berserker) for someone in that kind of gear but I guess with a ton of luck it can happen :P

Re: Hi, my name is Deyman and I'm an altoholic.

    1) SLSL is no longer a viable spec because you have an extra 30 points to spend due to talent tree re-organization. PVP without Soul Link is not practical, and Siphon Life is only useful in a Haunt build.

    2) Everyone is destruction because its easier to play. You have two modes: Running away and Nuking. By contrast, Demonology has three (Running, Nuking, Tanking) and Affliction has four (Running away, Nuking, Tanking, and Control). Since I'm going to get flamed if I don't explain....

All warlocks have all four modes. However, Destruction can reach higher ratings without thinking about 2 of them. Affliction cannot succeed without knowing how to do all four. Destruction has big crits and you can luck out, thereby making up for what would have been a huge mistake. Affliction has no luck, its all you all the time.

    3) Affliction until 71 is viable now with all the spell power gear going around and the outland mob nerf. If you like Affliction, I suggested http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#IfxrbhMhoqAohk at 54. Continuing this spec, I'd suggest http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#IfxrbhMhoqARIkt0G at 70, respecing to the Felguard/Siphon Life build i posted prior. Basically, go straight for Haunt, backpedal into the other affliction talents, then get a few in Demonology for kicks

Re: Hi, my name is Deyman and I'm an altoholic.

I also made me a lock yesterday. Its level 10 by now and im having a blast. But i've got 1 question. Is the staff from emblems better then from stonekeeper shards? Since the one from emblems has crit and stonekeeper hit. And i'm probably going to level demo or aff and back when i leveled my lock pretbc i barely used shadowbolt so im not gonna get alot of crits.

Sorry for my bad english though. Its early
