Druid Forms - Reflecting Gear Too Much Too Ask?

So with the druid form changes upcoming I know there have been many "I like the changes" or "I think the forms are ugly" threads.

My question is this: Is it too much to ask for the forms to reflect the users gear in some way?

It would probably be too much to ask for each form to reflect every piece of gear individually. My proposed solution would be that each iLvL of gear would be reflected the same way. Perhaps between PvP and PvE sets have a coloration difference?

The main reason I am proposing this is because I am sick of my druid looking, in form, like every other druid levels 20-80. I am disappointed with the new forms because they don't really solve this. Druids will still be indistinguishable.

Feel free to share your thoughts, I know you will anyways!

Frost strike, on the other hand, hits a lot harder than a wet noodle. It hits more like a 10-year old bread. Or a solid rock.

That would be a cool feature for the druid forms to scale on Item Level. But they just patched the whole idea up with the new skins. Personally i love the new horde cat/bear, but i'm Alliance sadly so i get to wear a purdy necklace and wristbands! :-[

so instead of shifting to bear/cat form just stay in nelf/tauren form. yeah you will suck that way but your problem of looking the same as every other druid will be gone.

    too much to ask.
It's not because we like a steack that we want to know who's the cow.

    yes.

animal forms are completely different in general form than any other "human" form of players, so armor would have to be designed especially just for animal forms. and this, sir, is too much to ask. if they add a new race, which is more or less same basic form as humans, they just have to modify the "points" at the model and all looks fine. but animal forms are WAAAAAAAAAAAY too different.

and if you want color change, get some dive in an ink can at the barber shop and here you go.

I believe this is something they plan on doing... or that's what I got from the posts when they were talking about the new forms.

I think it would be nice. Something like how the armory shows our characters of different lvls. Have a low level one look quite basic then high level some fancy stuff (maybe a couple armor looking things on it?). But doubt it will happen too soon, Blizz seems to be too busy making the game a joke.

If you have more hair color choices than pelt colors available on the animal then more than one hair option will map to the same animal. Having the art itself upgrade as you improve your gear is still something we'd love to do, but is obviously a much bigger undertaking. We'll see.

Yea, they want to do it but they're not sure how they could implement it without it looking silly.

Well the fact that druid has to stay in form most of the time was number one reason I abandoned him. Is it really a problem to just have the option to turn form visibility off like with helmets and cloaks Blizz? Just make some minor graphical effect to show that druid is in form (aura of sorts, or glow) and volia.

yeh that is true.. i remember in previous arena season where the first thing you looked at was the shoulders wich basically could tell you the skill of the oposite team and the a druid pops out with nothing but fur around him :P

They already said that they would do this, but most likely not until they added new tree/moonkin forms

Yeah, I agree. They'd have to redraw all the gear for our furry friends. And really, when you think about it, the back of most armor isn't as impressive as the front-- and in cat/bear form, that's what you'd see most of the time. :-\

Re: Druid Forms - Reflecting Gear Too Much Too Ask?

Its not to much to ask, just not consistant. The lore behind druids in warcraft has never shown them with equipped armor in forms. If druids were allowed to "Gear up" in forms, people would QQ that its not consistant with the classes history. Druid is the only class able to shapeshift into animals for direct combat so in that sense they are unique. The forms update will add some diversity and before the game ends im sure they'll add more skins or even diffrent kinds of cats/bears/moonkin/trees/travel/aquatic forms to shift into.
