There's something very much like spoilers ahead. Don't read if you don't want to know.
So, World of Warcraft's storyline has always been a tad hard to grasp for some people. They whinge and moan about how So-and-So shouldn't be killed about X amount of "nobodies".
Essentially, all the way through, from level one, you're the hero. From running simple chores, restocking supplies and slaying troublesome pests up to leading high profile assassinations alone and unaided after single handedly destroying the enemies infrustructure. By the time you get to Outland/Northrend, there are people who have heard of your exploits and are glad to have you on board. Even when it comes to raid quests, they always make the assumption you're the raid leader.
This is great, even if it comes slightly unstuck where raids are concerned. But the Worgen and Goblin introduction quests go above and beyond this.
At level one, you're already a well known hero. You've already done a long list of deeds to earn the respect of your fellow countrymen. As a Worgen, you're saved from execution by King Genn Greymane himself. As a Goblin, you're the hero who all the other Goblins have to thank for making it to the Lost Isles alive.
That's all pretty epic for your very first quest. I mean, you're a tried and true hero just for putting in a name and choosing a face.
The question is: Are we all going to overdose on awesome in the first ten minutes and never be satisfied with anything after 4.0? Have Blizzard set their own bar too high? Will the secret weapon in Uldum be Metal Gear REX?
