How does the SP change affect locks?

with SP being tied to mana, will we begin to see warlocks with mana pools rivaling their health pools, and does this change one of the core mechanics of warlocks - life tap?

Too early to say. Warlocks already have lots of hp, and we're not specifically gearing for less INT than the other casters. Life tap will probably scale with spellpower as it once did.

Oh my, such a small achievement done so slowly. I must truly suck.

The change will take place with the new expansion. There'll be other gems around by then.

My guess: Talent and Mastery based Conversion coefficients.

    IE:
All casters get a 1:1 ratio of Int --> SP
So when we have 3k int we have 30k mana and around 3k SP.

Then, through the mastery system, Affliction warlocks get to increase the ratio by 25% (1:1.25) so that we now have 30k mana and 3750 SP

Destruction could get 25% int as crit.

    ETC.

Or they could even adjust the ratio for each caster, so locks have a higher base than mages, but mages have a higher crit, and SPriests have a higher haste or something.

Spell power is being removed from items, not from the game.

doesnt really matter new gear will be like:

    [Robe that doesnt exist]
    243stamina
    161 intelect
    161 spirit
    63 haste rating
    43 hit rating
    [ ] socket
    [ ] socket

As you can see if intelect will be a 1=1sp conversion you'll get 161sp from intelect and 48,3sp from fel armor (normal version)
would give you a total of: 209 sp from a single chest piece. Only hit rating will make it more a dps piece. But i also read that dispelling debuffs will require some hit rating aswell.

    [Wand that doesnt exist]
    50 intelect
    100 spirit
    56 hit rating
    [ ] socket

You'll get 50sp from intelect and 30sp from fel armor (normal version)
would give you a total of: 80 sp from a fake wand ^^

If i understood it all, gear for casters will have plenty of both stats so it can be used for a healer and for a dps caster.

They've said spirit is now a healer stat and they're getting rid of spirit on mage and lock items(as in items with hit).

Yep. I think the best way they could go about it is that Spirit and Hit are interchangable, based on who is equipping the gear.

if so they will change fel armor no doubt aswell since it has no point really, same goes for life tap.

Fel armor gives you 30% of your intelect as spell power bonus ( instead of spirit )
