    Seeking Engineer's Advice

Hi all. Title says it all....

I have maxed (or at least close to max) for almost all professions except Engineering and JC.

I plan to pump my DK (been 80 a while with no professions yet) with mats from my other 2 mining alts to level both JC and Engineering.

I know JC can make me some gold to cover up for the levelling costs but what about Engineering? I understand that Engineering is mostly 'personal' stuff but I'm sure there's somethings I could profit from? I've thought of the possibilities....

    1. Guns (Not too high in demand on my server)
    2. Pets (Not too high in demand)
    3. Bike (Mats from Storm Peaks cost an arm and a leg)
    4. Injectors (These are useless now since pots can stack to 20 so this is out)
    5. Sucking eternals/motes/etc. ??

How else can Engineering be 'profitable' aside from the list above?

The only thing I can make somesort of profit of on my server are the arrows(Saronite Razorheads) and the bullets(Mammoth Cutters). That's it. For me, atleast...
"Long past the nuclear annihilation that burned Earth to a scorched ball of fire, Gabe Newell awakens from his nap and jumps out of his underground shack, rides to the Los Angeles Convention Centre and announces Half Life 3, due to come out next week Valve time. The fourteen cockroaches and Keith Richards found underneath the bridge talking about how Richards snorted his uncle that survived the apocalypse, are happy." - Likelyhood of Half Life 3.

It's not..it is just for fun.

    But I will humor you.

    Mammoth cutters
    Scopes
    and maybe...
fused wiring, cobalt boats , overcharged capacitor and volitaLe triggers..

But, and I repeat, but, don't expect anything good...rely on jc

I fly around Sholozar basin Sucking up Steam Clouds & Mining Saronite/Titanium. Here is the result of roughly 2 days. (+- 4-5 hours a day) of Flying Around.

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...909_180512.jpg

(+3.5 stacks of titanium & 12x Eternal eart/fire/shadow which I kept on my main for Titansteel bars.)

With the current price on Saronite (13g stack) vs Eternal fire (25-30g each) it is absolutely a HUGE boost to my mining.

The guns & the like really dont sell since 3-4 month's after release, maybe the tanking gun to some fresh tanks..

    Razorheads I never really made.

    Re: Seeking Engineer's Advice

i've been engineer since vanilla and i've never made much money with it, except for the mote extractor that's awesome moneymaker, but even though i love it and i won't drop it anytime soon. wormhole is great thing, port to wherever in northrend i need to go? (well, almost) awesome+it's always fun to see people casting HS after a heroic and stoping when they see the portal and then asking me why the hell can't they use it , changing your race for an hour as a side effect of the area 52 transporter is also a nice thing (it doesn't proc always, but still..), jeeves is also awesome thing - bot with 1 hour cd who got unlimited supply of reagents and poisons? great, 1 non-combat pet for both specializationg are also good for pet collectors like myself, flying machines are awesome mounts too, and great enchants you get from engi like the nitro boosts with crit & parachute with agi, they are also cheaper than enchanter's ones (at least on my server), and the bombs, well, what should i say about them....they are awesome , new MC cap is also fun, long cd and only 10s durationg on players, but if you use it at the right time, you can for example wipe the allys at drek (got my loyal defender achi with it ) and so on and so on..

    Wall of text... use,
    line.
    breaks.

It's easier to read for everyone that way.

Been an Engineer since vanilla, and the only thing I've made money on is people tipping me for making the Mechano-hog. Being an engineer isn't about making money. it's more about letting people know you don't care about money...

Engineering will be buffed in Cataclysm, as will all of the professions. If that helps.

No that would be Jewelcrafting. Engineering isn't that expensive to even level.

They said that about WotLK as well....
    It didn't happen until 3.2

    Re: Seeking Engineer's Advice

Engineering is not THE money making profession, but still:

    - when you circle Sholazar Basin, apart from the ovious MASSES of Saronite you get a decent amount of Fire and Water (I would say each lap contains 3-4 Steam Clouds (1xWater, 2-4x Fire) and one Cinder Cloud (2-4x Fire)) so that is a nice addition money-wise - but not working for you as your Engineer is not a Miner

    - I DO sell ammo. The Calculation is simple. 2 Saronite Bars = 2g60, Saronite Razorheads go for 4-5g sometimes, Mammoth Cutters go for 6g to even 8g. Its not a big moneymaker (actually I find the profit margin extremely nice, but you need to sell a LOT of ammo for some cash ), but if you got some population on your server, it IS just a way of increasing the amount of money you farmed in ores.

-Deending on the Price of the mats, it CAN be profitable to make Mechanized Snow Goggles and disenchant them (1 Dream Shard 100%)

    - Since 3.2 nobody buys the Armor Plated Shotgun or Nesingwary 4000 anymore, sadly

    - Building the Chopper becomes an option once you can put in 12500g to make it then sell it. Noone you sell it to will be willing to trade you 10k gold just like that (tried it :P but wouldnt do it myself either)

    - Overcharged Capacitors go for around 10g on my server, but you cannot actually sell masses.

    - for some reason Khorium Power Cores go for 100g here sometimes, but I hate "farming" khorium

    - since 3.2, sometimes it was profitable to build some repbot 74A, as you need it for Jeeves, but not every Engineer has the recipe.

So conclusively, I think the biggest and steadiest Moneymaker in Engineering is its addition to Mining, imo and sadly for you...

    Re: Seeking Engineer's Advice

Engineering is by far my favorite profession, rocket boots are OP, and farming is a lot more productive with the mote extractor. it's possible to come up with alot more eternals than just with mining especially in Sholazar Basin.
