Why do we call pre-TBC for Vanilla times?

Well we say Vanilla WoW, because well, it wasn't an expansion just a game, it was "plain" then TBC came out and that's an expansion so we just say TBC, you'd confuse the shit out of them if you said "Strawberry WoW"

    1. Computer games

The term 'vanilla' is often used to describe the original version of a game, or one that has been upgraded with an official patch, but has not been modified with third-party addons. It can also refer to the original game engine when source ports or expansion packs are available.

Vanilla the basic taste in many things like ice cream.

Tbc would have been called vanilla/chocolate if it wasn't for the fact that it sounds stupid.
