Stuck at 2K dps

Hi folks
Please help, first of all, yes i am a female and yes i play wow. OK, i may also have blonde hair so please no jokes about that! ;D

My problem is the following;
I normally play resto and enjoy that, however recently i have been "trying" dps as kitty. I believe my gear and spec is good, etc.

BUT, i cant for the life of me get over ~2k dps. Tried in a few hc's and boss dummy.
The guys keep laughing and tell me to go back to being a tree, could any of you kind people out there help?

Yes, i keep roar up, rip (with 5 cp), mangle, etc...

I just thought that with my gear, i would go over 2k dps easy.
I am stuck. (perhaps my gear is not as good as i thought it was, or i am missing something in the specs/rotation....

Concerning crit, i think the armory site only shows details in "non-shape shifted" mode.
When i am in kitty i am at 49% crit.
What others gems should i take for the purple? i was under the impression "gem Agility".

After 10+ years of stalking the internet, my experience shows that the people that will straight out tell you - completely out of context - that they are female, usually arent. It is not relevant to this discussion that you are female - it doesn't change your rotation, it doesn't give you better stats, and i doub that - if you hadn't said it - anyone would have gone "You can't DPS in cat? What are you, female?!".

You felt it was important to tell us to NOT treat you in a special way, when in fact you are promting us to do just that - only, its more of an annoyed "Not another one -_-" reaction you recieve.

honestly, 2k with dummy isn't bad. And Heroics, since kitty dps needs some time to set up. It can't be measured in heroics too much. Compared to a raid setting anyways.

(my hunter does 2.7k in heroic and 4k+ in raids ... )
(my moonkin does ~1700 on dummy and around 3.6k in raids .. in 50% healer gear)

So, hard to judge by dummy and HC. Try raids. And see how it goes.

Your Ap seemed a little on the low side, but that's probably due to not in kitty form. Should be around 4kish? i think? But nothing that make you shouldn't go pass 2k.

And try to replace your staff with the 5-man-H-coluseum polearm, you should see a noticable increase in dmg.

Agi is red, not purple. If you want to go kitty, switch to the agi/3% meta, use a nightmare tear for your 1 blue, agi/crit for 1 yellow, everything else agi. Likely you'll never use ArP (You can figure that out if you actually stick with it)

Your Meta Gem should be Relentless Earthseige Diamond.

Replace your tanking ring with a melee DPS ring (there is one you can buy with Triumph tokens).



I pull your AP as: 3384 in cat form which is fine for the level of gear you have.

Regarding your spec: King of the Jungle is a really really good talent to have for feral dps. I would recommend dropping 3 points from Feral Aggression, or 2 points from Feral Agression and also dropping Survival Instincts, as that talent doesn't really affect our dps at all. At your gear level you probably aren't going to have much opportunity to squeeze Ferocious Bites into your rotation anyways, so 6-9% damage from FB won't make much difference. KotJ makes Tigers Fury an awesome talent and you should use it whenever it's up (provided you have < 40 energy at the time of course). Other than that, your spec looks fine.

I'd also recommend getting rid of the Glyph of Mangle and replacing it with the Glyph of Savage Roar. Assuming you have SR up at all times (which you should) that's a straight up 3% damage increase.

For gems: As others have mentioned, you should be using Relentless Earthstorm Diamond as your meta. It requires 1 red, 1 blue, and 1 yellow gem to activate it. To do this, you should fill all gem slots with 20 agi (since you don't have the gear to support ArP gems yet) save for one, which you'll place a Nightmare Tear in. The Nightmare Tear is prismatic, and counts as +1 to all color gems. That means that the Nightmare Tear alone is enough to satisfy your meta requirement, leaving you free to gem whatever you want for the other slots (which should be straight up agi). So you should have 3x34 agi gems, 1 Nightmare Tear, and the rest 20 agi. Don't worry about matching colors with sockets, as the 20 agi gems will trump anything you'd get from actually socketing according to color.

For enchants: You really really really need to work on your Ebon Blade and Sons of Hodir reputation. Your head and shoulder enchants are pvp enchants with resilience, which is useless for feral pve. You need revered with Ebon Blade for the melee dps head enchant, and at least honored with Sons of Hodir for the shoulder enchant. The Sons of Hodir enchant that is available at exalted is what you should be shooting for ultimately, but the honored version is still a massive upgrade to what you're using now. Back, Chest, Bracers, Gloves, Legs and Feet enchants are good. Your weapon enchant should be Berserking instead of Mongoose.

For gear: First off, try to get the t8 headpiece from badges asap. 2pc t8 is very very good and you'll notice a big dps boost just from that. Replace your cape... you're using a tanking cape. Your ring Deflection Band is for tanking as well, replace it with a dps piece. Your belt is a pvp belt, so replace that with a dps piece as well.

You have several pieces that there are easy upgrades for. I won't go into all of them b/c frankly I'm too lazy, but I'd recommend using RAWR to find upgrades. You can download it at http://www.codeplex.com/Rawr/Release...eleaseId=20505

I don't know your rotation or if you're doing it right, but just for posterity:
1. Keep up Savage Roar
2. Keep up Mangle
3. Keep up Rake
4. Use shred for CP regeneration (remember, that points 2 and 3 are more important)
5. When at 5 CP and Rip is not up, use Rip
6. When below 30 Energy, use TF
7. Use Clearcast Proccs for Shred
8. When at 5 CP and Rip and SR are running with 8 seconds (might be longer, depending on your gear) or longer each, use FB
9. When Rip and SR will drop at nearly the same time (with less than 3 seconds difference), try to recognize it early. Then use SR with a small amount of CP to desynchronize both timers.
10. Use Berserk only at high energy, (but not higher than 85) not directly after TF and as often as possible. If you will get Hysteria or some boss mechanics will enhance your damage, save it for these situations.

Edit: Something I forgot. Make sure you're eating Blackened Dragonfish food and using Flask of Endless Rage as well.

Oh, and my Guild leader was Female... and rocks Moonkin DPS.
Healers can be difficult to find for a core raiding group, so when a guild has one they usually like then to STAY that spec... It has NOTHING to do with you being a girl. I was always stuck in Resto spec (because that is what the guild wanted/needed)... and I love healing but it kind've gimped my game outside of raiding because I was only getting resto gear and as everyone knows IT'S NO FUN being stuck resto while trying to quest or do dailies or practically anthing else in the game.

I had to take it upon myself to find feral gear by doing Pugs/Heriocs 'till finally they gave in and slowly I found myself OT/MT for alot of content. I was spending 100g-150g a day respecing before dual-spec came out.

My advice is...
1. Follow the gear advice people are giving here...
2. Learn the "flow" of a fight and adapt... (SR +swipe AOE'ing versus single-target rotations)... try DPS for trash - healing for Bosses for awhile.
3. Find your guild some healers
4. Have fun.

This is the easiest way you can improve your dps. There are much better options out there but you have to be good to get them. Personally, if you can't pull 2k I would never look at you. Get these items and enchants, change your spec, and sit your ass on the target dummy until you hit 2k. If you can't do it then you're helpless and useless and you should go back to tree.
