    Downranking question

    taken from http://elitistjerks.com/f75/t30655-w...ndium_3_3_ptr/ there is a sentence like this:

    Downranking Formula has officially been confirmed now.
    Downranking_Factor = (spellmaxlevel+22-casterlevel)/20 and it's capped between 0% and 100%.
    Spellmaxlevel is explained as "inconsistent, but around 4 levels higher than when you learn the spell". Basically, starting around 7 levels after you learn a spell of a certain rank, you'll lose 5% scaling every level until you receive nothing from spellpower 19 levels later.

    Can anyone explain in easy noobish english is this a nerf or boost, or it doesnt even effect max level chars, cus i just dont get it.

    Thank you in advance

    Re: Downranking question

    does it matter? Downranking was nerfed to oblivion at the beginning of Wotlk because how spells now are % of base mana.

    Re: Downranking question

    it doesnt matter. all ranks will still have same mana cost. this formula you posted only describes how much low rank spells benefit from spellpower. still no sense to pay same mana to use weaker spell
    I have enough of EA ruining great franchises and studios, forcing DRM and Origin on their games, releasing incomplete games only to sell day-1 DLCs or spill dozens of DLCs, and then saying it, and microtransactions, is what players want, stopping players from giving EA games poor reviews, as well as deflecting complaints with cheap PR tricks.

    I'm not going to buy any game by EA as long as they continue those practices.

    On -some- cases, low rank spells have a shorter cast time then their higher ranked equivalents.
    In general, though, you're right: downranking is dead.

    You dont need to know exactly what it means because it does not pertain to you. The ONLY time you ever use downranking is maybe for a frostbolt to slow something. (H MgT comes to mind, oh the good old days). As of right now, dont worry about it. Its not important and you wont even notice the change when leveling.
