    The Manners of Dueling?

Like many people who play wow i love a good duel.

But there ar so many things that can go wrong.

    Should you use a 5 min cooldown in a duel? 10? 20? 30?

When a melee is dueling a melee do you start at max range or melee range? ( warriors bemefit from range)

when its a caster vs melee where should they start? At range? Or melee range?

Are bandages ok in a duel?
    Potions?
    Your own health stones?
    Mana gems?
    Healing? (lol)

i have heard many responses to these questions and are looking for a general idea

i duel with arena rules (max range no pots no >15 min cds etc)

    discuss

I go by the arena rules too, but there are some people with strange rules like no bandages, no CDs at all and even 'no kiting'.

being a paladin, in duels i dont bubble or Lay on hands. Bubble is just cheap and LoH cant be used in arena so why use it in a duel? i hate dueling a DK and seeing him pop AotD after he coems out of my stun.

    The loser makes the rules.

"lulz u knob use evry cd u hazzz ololo nub!"

    "lulz u hax with banages!!!!"

    Edit:

I also like getting dueled by some wannaba rogue pg when I'm in my crappy pvp gear. I then put on my tanking gear and mash him into bits.

all is fair in the love of dueling ;D. Cooldowns (attacks, potions, bandages, etc) are ok in a duel imo

I'm a holy paladin, only way i can survive is by healing. for the range problem.. I dont think there is a "fair" way. if you get a chance to start up close against a hunter or mage, do it. 8)

    Re: The Manners of Dueling?

My own list of manners during duels:

1: No potions, no Wild Magic Potion, no Mana or health Potions. However, Mana Gem and Healthstone is ok.

2: no, NO cd's with more than 15 min, (Lay on Hands, Army of the Dead, Elemental Totems).

3: Bandage is allowed, but only if both parts got it, and the same bandage.

4: You start at range, and if you duel a rogue, you let him stealth. No MC/Pushback over cliffs.

    5: No eating or drinking.

6: Proffesions allowed, you bothered skilling it for a reason.

No potions. Mana/health-stones that you've made yourself is ok.

Bandages/sitting down to eat/drink is completely allowed.

    No HUGE cooldowns (15-min cooldowns)

Start at range, let the stealthers stealth, don't MC people over cliffs.

Just about it, really. Pretty much almost the same as Haibara.

The only manner is "don't send duel requests to random people you run across."

Despite the first sentence of the original post, dueling is not popular or beloved by the majority of players.

    Re: The Manners of Dueling?

alls fair in love and dueling, so i have no probs with ppl using whatever cd's they have after all if you have a spell at your disposale why not use it.
if not then there would be no point in differeant class's we would all be the same.

I did that once, forgetting that I was dueling just outside the inn. That was back at 1 hour CD hearths, too.

    Re: The Manners of Dueling?

A friend of mine has a strange oppinion about dueling rules.
He for example says that it's okay that you use every skill you have got, but when it come's to bonuses you get from professions, like herbalism hot, roket boots or tailoring nets he gets mad. He also says that using bandages and healing potions are unfair and cheap.
Strangely he doesn't have anything against enchantments and something like that (I mean multicolor gems from juwelcrafting or lightweave embroidery from tailoring for example).

As for me, i'm okay with arena rules and/or anything goes duels, but what i can't stand is when you mind control someone and let him jump off a cliff or you thunderstorm/blast wave/typhoon someone down from a high position etc.
