    Cheapest Profession Through AH?

Trying to level up a 2nd Profession that benefits me in the raiding environment.
Have tailoring already and I'm looking for a new 2nd one.

I realise the AH prices of mats may vary from server to server, but post the cheapest profession to level via the AH.

On my server herbs are rather cheap, so my vote goes for alchemy or inscription. With a little patience and a good guide, if your willing to ride the market for a week or two, you could max it for about 2500g

about 2 months after wotlk came out i lvld alch for about 800g, and JC with just over 2k, and made back the gold from the JC with in about 1-2 weeks, so if u can afford the gold i would go with JC.

Sorry to sound like a jackass, but maybe if you want a prof to help you with raiding you should drop tailoring (assuming your talking about you shaman or DK)
But to answer your question alch is pretty cheap to level on my server, and JC, although much more expensive to level, is apparently quite easy to make money back with.

It's all about timing, I actually made gold power-levelling JCing by hoovering up all the mats and reselling the stuff I didn't need at a huge markup. Noticing that three others were powerlevelling at the same time as me helped

If I were you I'd pick a profession that will save you money because you don't already have it on an alt. If you're patient and play the market while you're at it you can level any profession cheaply.

    Lightweave is fairly mad.

At what level of JC do I get access to the improved Gems...? (Couldn't find it on Wowhead.)

    What about Leatherworking?

LW gives you special wrist chants. Can remember the exact values but gives you a very good amount of SP, AP or stam.
You can also make yourself cheap leg kits. They use like 2 scales instead of frozen orb, arctic fur etc...

    Re: Cheapest Profession Through AH?

Yeh knew about those, thanks anyway.
Was just curious whether it would cost a fair bit compared to JC.

    Alright, thanks.

I think I'll go with JC or Leatherworking.

Can anyone confirm 400 is the Epic Cuts?

    Re: Cheapest Profession Through AH?

I was way off, logged to my JC to look, 450 is req for epic patterns. 370 for the Dragon Eye cuts.

When I leveled jewel-crafting from 0 to 450 it cost me just under 1k gold all in all.

I may of been lucky in my acquisition of cheap mats but its worth looking in to.

Yeah you are pretty lucky. From all of my estimates and work so far on it, I would say the whole thing would normally cost about 3k-4k.

    Re: Cheapest Profession Through AH?

When was this, there is no way in hell you can do that now. Starting out it's hella cheap but as you get closer to 300 the prices are insane. 5k is what it took my DK to get to around 430, rest was random patterns and Prism's

if ur trying to save money by not maxing it, ur terribly mistaken, 1-420 (?, 420 is what i think is needed) is about 3.9k-4.6k, 420-450 is about 500g
    hahaha. no.

    Re: Cheapest Profession Through AH?

Ah, so 370 is for the Dragons Eye Gems, I didn't think it would be that low.
I wasn't planning on just leveling it to that, I'll get it up to 450 eventually.

I maxxed out alchemy for around 1000g, but from that i resold and profited.... so yeh id say alchemy is the cheapest, followed closely by inscription if you make the right glyphs. when i leveled inscription i ended up with around 200~ g less then when i started.

    Re: Cheapest Profession Through AH?

I'd say Inscription would be the cheapest to level, specially if you can sell the glyphs you'll be making at low level and have a inscriptor friend that can mill cheap Northrend herbs for ink of the sea, which you can exchange for other inks in the case you need to mill expensive or rare (AH wise) herbs.
