^^^ Sorry cant post...
I have http://www.wowhead.com/?item=48022
and http://www.wowhead.com/?item=49493
Even though the Flintlock has better stats I keep getting lower dps on the heroic test dummy, does this mean a slower ranged weapon is ideal for survival hunters?
OH NOES! someone has done ToGC!!! look out!Originally Posted by Wastegate
To put it simple: Yes.
Higher weapon damage (and therefore slower attack speed) will make your weapon damage based attacks hit harder, Steady Shot for example.
so according to www.hunterloot.com the gun from ToGC with a 20 agi gem will do about 4.4 more dps than the ony gun.

Actually just wondering...
Between these two

and

which would be better?
It looks to be that they are both the same speed and the crossbow = gun + 18 haste in stats, but the damage is different on them. Any thoughts?
So if the crossbow has haste, does that automatically lower the max and min damage?
The reason that their damage appears to be different is not what you think. Both weapons are the same speed. The difference is this: The weapon with the lower topend also has a HIGHER lowend. Their respective average damages are exactly the same. If you find the mean of the topend and lowend of the two weapons, it will be equal. Effectively making both weapons nearly identical in regards to their weapon damage. You must choose your favorite weapon based on the different stats offered by each of them in this case.Originally Posted by Wastegate
I'm really glad you posted this. There is a huge amount of misunderstanding on hunter boards about the 'top-end' damage for weapons. When the speed is the same and the average dps is the same, top-end damage is irrelevant. Under these circumstances, a weapon with a higher top-end will yield more higher damage shots, but it will also yield more lower damage shots when compared to a weapon with a lower top-end.Originally Posted by Demoness
So basically they both ballance out but I assume that the one with a smaller gap between low end and top end will give u more consistant dps.
