    What is considered Good/Geared enough for ICC?

    I'm just wondering, how geared should a person be in order to be ready for either 10 or 25 man ICC?
    This is embarassing... please ignore my horrible username.

    I don't know... you should probably have gear from the previous tier before you try Icecrown... o.O

    10m - mostly 232s

    25m - mostly 245s

    10 -> 240 Given the fact that on 10men you can easily get 245s from ToGC HM, Koralon and Emblems.

    24 -> 245 Because ther's way less 258 items compared to 245 ones.

    a full set of 245 or 258 will be fine.. a mixture of those 2 should also be ok

    They will have the quest weapon which is 232 or 245 from the new heroics quest chain.

    If it's anything like Ulduar, you'll be able to do 10 man normal modes with a mix of EoQ and EoT gear.

    Re: What is considered Good/Geared enough for ICC?

    Judging from past precedent, typically having roughly half of your gear from the previous tier, and half from the tier before that is sufficient for starting out.

    For ICC10 -- 232's (from ToC10) and 219's (from Uld10) = ~226 average ilvl gear
    For ICC25 -- 245's (from ToC25) and 226's (from Uld25) = ~235.5 average ilvl gear

    That's just a rule of thumb in general. When looking at particular roles, for example tanking, there are more specific considerations, primary among which is having enough effective health to be healable through the new encounters (although to be fair, being at or around those average ilvl's prepares you if you have sensible gear).

    As a caveat, this generalization is based on the assumption that you're in a balanced group where everyone is generally pulling their own weight. For pugging purposes, people tend to way overestimate the gear requirements they're looking for, which isn't exactly nonsensical, because if you're playing with people of unknown quality, it isn't unreasonable to want to fill your group with people that overshoot the gear level you really need.

    5/5 t9, mix of 226/232 off pieces and accessories (rings, trinks, etc) or GTFO YOU'RE TOO LAZY,

    If you're asking, you probably haven't raided enough to be there in the first place.

    this is a bit silly unless you're already in a server first caliber guild. And if he was in that type of guild he wouldn't be asking. So you are either showing off (gratz on tribute to insanity) or you think normal ICC (all we will be seeing for a while) is going to be WAY harder than ToC normal.

    My guess for 10 mans is mostly 232 or 226 gear, which shouldn't be to hard to have right now if you're raiding toc 10 plus some xtra heroics to fill in whatever slots you can't fill with raid loot. And 245/232 gear for 25 progression.

    The 5/5 tier 9 is silly too, who gets 5/5 when at least one of those slots(for most classes) there is a better crafted item available.

    This.

    If you say that more than this is required, you must be talking hard modes.

    If you're geared enough to make ToTC on whatever difficulty you do it on feel like more of a joke than it actually already is, then you're ready for Icecrown.

    i'm thinking ilevel 219+ gear for the heroic 5-man (plenty of conquest gear + TOC5 heroic stuff)

    and ilevel 245ish for ICC. with the free FULL tier9 from badge loot they're implementing+ Toravon the ice watcher(sounds ~difficulty level of koralon/emalon, possibly easier) , i think they'll come down hard on gear requirements.

    Greens from trash in Naxx10 should be fine for ICC 25 Hardmode.
    0_o why you do dat?

    Re: What is considered Good/Geared enough for ICC?

    Look at the ilevels for the ICC loot and go one tier below that and that's your entry point into that difficulty.

    For example, if you're wearing full TOGC 25 gear there isn't going to be anything of interest in 10man normal modes apart from trinket procs and practicing some of the more unique encounters of ICC
    If you want to make raiding content harder, turn off DBM. Voila! Your encounters will be much more challenging without bleeps and someone telling you to "run away, little girl."

    Re: What is considered Good/Geared enough for ICC?

    Rule of thumb is that raiders should have 90% full gear from previous tier of content to be able to take on the next tier. But that is using the traditional model.

    It used to go:
    MC -> BWL -> AQ
    Kara -> SSC/TK -> MH/BT -> SWP

    Now it goes:
    3.0 Heroics -> Naxx
    3.1 Heroics -> Naxx -> Uldar
    3.2 Heroics -> ToCr -> ToGCr

    If I had to guess it would follow suit
    3.3 Heroics -> ICC

    Meaning that you should at least have the full T9 ilvl 232 set with a few off spec pieces maybe some ICC 5 man weapons / quel-denar pieces.

    When you think about it preparing ahead of time for ICC is rather silly. The 5 mans are going to be 219 normal 232 heroic and the random dungeon LFG feature means you will be able to farm 100+ triumph badges a day if you have the patience for it.

    3.3 will be the biggest gear reset ever seen well larger than 3.2 or the infamous 2.3. IMO there is no real point to "preparing" do what you would normally do and just realize that when 3.3 hits you're going to be really, really busy for a week maybe two weeks tops but by then you’ll be ready to go with the best of em. Which will suit you fine since pugs wont start running ICC before the second week anyways since you need some time for DBM and strats to get out enough experience to trickle down to pug leaders to offer any hope of success.

    You mean that if you arent currently in said ToC gear, then you will be busy with heroics. Keep in mind that everyone and their mother is in ToC right now
