Problems with the Background Downloader

I don't know if this is the right place to post it, but I didn't find a better place :P

I have a problem with my Background Downloader. It's set to download after exiting the game, but when I close the game (when the pre-patch downloads came), it didn't pop up. I went to the Task Manager to look if the BD was running, and there it was, so I thought it was downloading REALLY in the background. But the window won't open, even if I close the program in the Task Manager and double click it. It will open there on the TM, but the window doesn't open. I tried to open it so it would download the patch while I'm at work, but it didn't open.

What can I do?
I ran the Repair, but I left before it finished. Any tips for what to do when I get home to fix that?

One more question, can I get the patch file from someone else? It's working on my gf's house.
