Your GM/Raid Leader is an idiot. How is he leading the guild?I suggest you leave and find a better one, led by knowledgeable people. Dont want to get ninjaed out of more important loot later on huh?

I guess I'm back? Sighhhh....
It's not a great drop rate, but I'm pretty sure that by now all the healers (alts included) in my guild that want one have one. One even has both, lucky bastard.Originally Posted by Devilsdance
So if a healer needs this trinket (a neutral trinket, not specifically a healer or dps trinket) for 1 encounter whereas a dps with terrible trinkets needs it for every encounter, it should go to the healer first? I don't think so. That right there is called loot-whoring. I'm assuming that the person who needed the trinket really needed the trinket, or he's a douche. Either way, if you're GL OK'd it, I can't see very much you can do about it.Originally Posted by Mandorin
No, a healer taking an AP trinket is NOT equivalent. Like I said earlier, it is a NEUTRAL trinket. It might be better for a healer, but it is still COMPLETELY useful for a dps.
Yeah but i know around 80%-99% of people would get 4 out of 5 tier 10 before other badge items so this trinket would be nice tell you get 4/5 tier 10Originally Posted by enoesiw
This is NOT a "neutral" trinket, it is a healer trinket. All caster dps are balanced around being able to regen enough without gearing for it, meaning any pure regen stat or effect is completely useless for dps. On-use mana return provides exactly 0 dps, meaning a healer with an AP trinket is the exact same situation, since AP provides 0 benefit to a healer.Originally Posted by enoesiw
OP, your GM is an idiot for giving this trinket to dps. Leave the guild, ?????, profit.
Hah sucks but you need button tier to get 25 man tier so... If your in a 25 man guild your gonna mostlikey get tier firstOriginally Posted by Devilsdance
As an arcane mage, you want to ideally be at exactly 0 mana the moment the fight is over. Arcane is one of the only specs that can effectively turn more mana into more dps.Originally Posted by Devilsdance
I would overall prefer seeing this having a healer priority, but just pointing out.
So you're fine with my disc priest taking Muradin's Spyglass then? Because trust me I'd use it on every encounter.Originally Posted by enoesiw
the broodmother actually gives 125 sp not 100 and i have just about the same mp5, and im a druid so i have innervate but that trinket is still a huge upgrade because im currently using the broodmother(which is not ment for resto druids at all)Originally Posted by tidus4eva
Arcane mages trinkets go something like this:
Reign of the Unliving
Flare of the Heavens
Tailsman of Resurgence
Scales of Fate
Pandora's Plea
Abyssal Rune
Illustration of the Dragon Soul
Embrace iof the Spider
Eye of the Broodmother
Solace of the Defeated
Not sure about other specs.
Your GM is bad and so is the mage.
this is something I find strange (well except for the "I have better already anyway" bit)Originally Posted by tidus4eva
I had a guildie say very similar a while ago. And then i pointed out he had gemmed for regen. So by taking a mana regen trink instead of his Eye of the broodmother and re-gemming SP instead of mana regen he ended up with a nice net gain of SP that he didn't need to worry about building with use.
Same of course can be said for Hit. I got the badge hit trinket - even though I didn't actually need it. But as they came available I replaced my O/H & ring so I'm now around 60 over the cap with a cape "in hand" (looks like I will use my frost emblems cos nothing else is happening :P)
The point is that by taking un optimised gear you replace it quickly to the detriment of another raid member. By taking a short term hit (normally you get an item which does nothing till you get the rest of the bits that go with it) you get a long term gain.
And as a healer I would take this in a second because I know that i could then jig things around and get better overall. But then I'm the guy with ilvl 219 trinks so my situation is way different :P But as a DPS - this thing is just a boost GS item that will be replaced very soon
As an arcane mage I feel that it is my job to inform you why this trinket is just as good to an arcane mage as it will be to any healer.
It has 2 main aspects:
Spell power
Mana gain
Arcane mages love spell power as much as any healer.
Arcane mages love mana more than any healer, as previously mentioned the goal of arcane is to finish the fight with 0 mana. If a healer finishes a fight with 0 mana, well something isn't right. Any fight I'm evocation multiple times, using all my mana gems, and making friends with the druids for innervate.
Without actually looking into what the dps of the trinket I cannot tell you if I would roll on it, but to me it looks like just as good to any arcane mage as it would to any healer.
And Eye of the Broodmother is pretty bad for arcane mages right now anyway...
All said and done, arcane mages enjoy mana. Still would the trinket still be good if the use was to return 500 mana?
1.6k mana is pitiful, thats less than the cost of a 4 stack arcane blast. If it returned somewhere in the region of 6-7k then we'd be talking...but 1.6k mana is such a small amount it makes the trinket next to useless.
Talisman of resurgance...can be bought with 50 triumphs (4-5 heroics farmed). gives 128 int.
128 int = 1920 mana. That trinket increases your mana pool by more than 1 use of the other trinket.
To go on from this, lets say you have replishment giving you 1% per 5 seconds
1% of 1920 is 19. So just wearing ToR gives you 19 mp5 from replishment, so 228 mana over the 2 min period.
Then theres evo, bonus spellpower, crit...all the other juicey benefits arcane mages get from int.
Seriously...that trinket is crap for mages
As a shaman healer I hardly ever run out of mana, and find that a +spell power only trinket to be a very DPS item. As for a mage this would be an incredible trinket to get, Spellpower + a trinket that works along with the conjured mana stone.Originally Posted by Frelstie
