Mysterious Egg: The Mystical Green Proto-Drake

Well it's coming up to almost a full year now of buying mysterious eggs (I have bought an egg 48 weeks in a row now without fail) and I've still not got the reins of the Green Proto-Drake. That's quite a long time!

How long has anyone else gone? I started not long after I dinged 80 and WotLK launched so I guess there can't be many people waiting that much longer than me at the moment? I've seen 2 guildies get the Drake on their 1st or 2nd egg and then fly it in my face...the pain!

I had to go a full 3 weeks.

When I got it I didn't actally know that you could get a mount from it... I had just been told you can get pets. (I'm a collector)

What is the drop rate from the egg anyone know? I'v been doing the same for a long time I hate the week long wait. And the nice guy guildie act for handing out all and any pet drops is getting old :P

Well im one of those unlucky people who never got a mount that drops, oh beside one, the mount from COT Timed I got, but all others I never got, no Baron mount, no ZG, no Karazhan, no Polar Bear, no Green Proto-Drake.
And trust me, Ive tried!

But all the mounts that can be farmed through reputation I got.. :-\

took me 15 trys before obtain mine :P was very happy cause it was also my first proto drake and my first 280% cool mount

They are SO ugly.

Red, Green, Rusted, who cares? I have a couple but do not ride them.

The only reasons some of the proto-drakes are nice are (1) for prestige (but so many people have rusted drakes now, who cares?) and (2) because some of them, have an increased flight speed.

The normal drakes are far nicer. Red, Bronze, Black and especially Twilight. Hippogryphs are really nice as well but proto-drakes - ugh!

Sure, Proto-Drakes are ugly, but what I like about them is that when they walk on the ground, it looks like they're trying to sneak up on someone with their really tiny claws and scare someone. They just have to grow on you, I guess.

That while normaly RNG aint that nice to me :P

Actualy i think the same as last poster, i rather fly my Flying-Carpet then any of the Proto Drakes (also have the black from immortal)

Hopefully will be able to run for Frostwyrm, those are actualy nice

I can see why one would find them unappealing but one must remember it is all in taste. I personally think they not only look badass, but are a nice break from the dragons of old. Yeah the regular dragons are cool but I've been looking at that same model for years now and I felt that, when the proto drake was unveiled, it was pretty damn cool.

As for me, took me roughly 6 months to get mine only to replace it with my red one a few months later

I dunno, I like the proto-drakes more because they are big and I like the way the kinda stand on their wings.

Yeah I'm semi going for that too - I've got 3 more to do, 2 in Oculus (which shouldn't be too hard) but I also have that annoying Less-Rabi one to do >< Failed that about 5 times already, it's hard to stop and wipe it without killing the boss these days with all the DoTs and whatnot. I'm half tempted to try a full nuke tactic (not ask a Shammy to respec) and see if it's possible to kill him before a 3rd transformation...

I've been starting to farm some achievements on my shaman, which includes all the mounts I can get, with the exception of the 3 last PvP mounts and the Mag'har... Grinding FTL. I was VERY lucky with my green proto, I was expecting to wait several months to get it, because all my friends were not getting theirs, and I only first saw proto-drakes about 2 months after launch (Break ;D), and I get my hunter to 80, before starting on a shaman (Gave TBC shaman away :x), got him to 80 as well, and revered with Oracles... 2 weeks after, lo and behold! I am just in love with Cletus, my favourite mount, of all the 62 or something I have.
Oh, and my polar bear has lost its awesomeness =(

got mine the first week I got an egg, pretty early on after the expansion hit, then got another which was useless only 2 weeks later when I was trying for the pets I just had to destroy it from my bag ;D

If only the RNG was as kind with tanking loot :-X

3 weeks for mine, friend of mine got his in one week.
Guess we're lucky, I also have the Grand Black War Mammoth of VoA and the baron mount (16th try) :/
Sadly, the ZG mounts never dropped for me
