    SUBSCRIBERS? still 11 million??

Well, I'm just wondering because for some reason it feels like people is leaving WOW, at least 5 of my friends and 7 of my co-workers already sold, deleted or cancelled their accounts.

11 million minus all the people who has been quitting since WotLK didn't work out quit well.

I used to love the game, but sorry free MMORPGs is where alot of players are going now, WOW doesn't have the same feeling it used to have.

Reasons why is less than 11 million?

    1) people is tired of "balance" and they quit.
Because WOW balances mostly around Arena and they keep promesing balance but classes keep getting unbalanced in many different ways.

    2) I don't see new people buying the game.
Spending money for the game + 2 expansion packs (soon to be 3) is becomes way too expensive for a game and to add a montly fee is just too expensive for somebody who is NEW, they just turn their heads and go to a free mmorpg and get the same epic experience.

    3) don't expect old players to go back to WOW.
While some do, most of them have been gone forever, they have found better games.

Seriously? what's the number now??? I'm just wondering.
Also, made this post just to make a constructive post of what their problem could/might be, I don't post on WOW forums because I cancelled my accounts since my friends did aswell lol, so I can't post.

Is it real? is WOW dying? like alot of players are saying?
btw, perfect world has 50 million at the moment, just saying (not that I play it, but I was surfing the net and found this)

    have 50,000,000,000 what?
    subscribers?
last time they ever release something they said:
    11,000,000
and the one that has a number closer to what you saying is perfect world:
    50,000,000

but that is not my point.

Maybe they don't have 11 million subscribers anymore but they still have more players than any other MMO can dream of. Also WoW is basically always in the Top 10 PC games charts meaning there are constantly new players joining.
    Free MMOs suck ass btw.

Game Informer always has like sales at the end
and so far, every month for 4 years, World of Warcraft has been top of PC game sales.

    3) China made up around 6 million subscribers, meaning WotLK immediate subscription was around 6 million
    4) VGChartz reported 6.42 million retail copies of TBC sold, whereas WotLK has only sold 5.24 million. However this is limited to retail sales only, and official records stopped on the 12th July 2009.
    5) Blizzard have never released ANY information on number of subscribers after the "11 million" figure that was released at the end of TBC.

Unless someone, somewhere has any new information to add, this is all the information we are likely to ever know.

edit - And yes, http://razetheworld.gameriot.com/blo...List-Sept-2009, goes to show that Aion isnt the joke that some hardcore WoW players like to pretend it is. Unofficial rumours suggest Aion's playerbase is somewhere around 4 million, which could be remarkably close to what WotLK currently has.
    thanks for the info

    Re: SUBSCRIBERS? still 11 million??

after losing china subscribers and Aion gettting out, i highly doubt they still have 11mil players. but then again i dont think they would annouce to the world how much ppl they lost, not something they can brag about after 11mil one

i think, that after every expansion subscribers number rise and then slowly goes down, but it doesnt matter. WoW still makes shit load of money...

actually , in youtube or some forums I always read people enjoying free mmorpgs more than WOW, but I don't know lol.
Of course, they are free to download so they will not show in sales charts but when they talk about subscribers the numbers are just much more than WOW.

    Re: SUBSCRIBERS? still 11 million??

U can also discuss how many of all subscribers that have 2-3 accounts. I have 2 for example, many of my friends have 2-4. This would decrease the number drastically.

You don't compare F2P MMOs with subscription based MMOs in terms of subscriber numbers. Ofc it's easy for them to get many subscribers, the game is bloody free. And how do you even know how they count their subscribers? I played SecondLife a few years ago and deleted it one day later, they probably still count me as subscriber.

    Re: SUBSCRIBERS? still 11 million??

You know that all thoes free to play MMOs your talking about releases xpacks way more frequently? So the costs are basicly the same...
What you've just wrote is one of the most insanely idiotic things I've ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response was there anything that could even be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this forum is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul!

    Quoted for truth.

There is a gigantic difference between a quoted number of subscribers and the number of people actually actively playing the game. A paid subscription is an incredibly more reasonable prediction of sombody playing a game than creating a free acount and never playing it again. You cancel/quit something you pay for. There's absolutely no reason to cancel some account that isn't costing you anything. This leads to hugely inflated subscriber numbers for these free mmo's. Statistic comparison fails miserably when the right variable are not considered.

    Re: SUBSCRIBERS? still 11 million??

Free MMO's are pretty lame, unless you just wanna putz around and shit. They aren't challenging and I've played quite a few back when I was unemployed and had the time to waste. They appeal to some people, but really trying to compare a free mmo to something like WoW is kinda laughable. That's like comparing Duck Hunt to Modern Warfare 2.

I definitely think they fucked up with WotLK though. I mean, I like the changes because I'm no longer a raider and being able to pug all of the raids in the game is nice for someone who works all the time, but at the sametime it's pretty lame.

Pug raids were NOT successful in TBC. Sure you might get lucky and do gruul and get HKM down, but you would fail more often than not. Kara was pugged, but that was about it. SSC/TK pugs failed more often than not to the point where on most servers people stopped bothering, I think that's how it should be.

Blizz better pull something outta their ass in Cata, otherwise they might as well just say fuck it and put all their effort into their new MMO and hope for the best.

    Re: SUBSCRIBERS? still 11 million??

ive had a few friends quit, and ive had a few friends have joined and rejoined, but the majority of people i know that have quit are planning on coming back with cata.
plus, even if half of wow unsubscribed, that would still be 5.5 million, before wow came along 5.5 million subcribers was more than any other mmo had, so its not like thier in any trouble.

Probably less than 11 Million because they haven't released another milestone statement since the 11 Million one. The better answer though is "Still millions more than any other Pay 2 Play MMO."

lol wut majority going to free mmo...gl with them, just try you will know what's wrong with them.
Aion is epic failure anyway just go check their forums/fan sites.

WoW is and will be major premium MMO outhere till they release another mmo in next 2-3yrs.

people who left wow are mostly don;t have spark anymore to play games or scrubs/failures who left to other mmo's.
