    Prot Frost Emblem Question

Just got enough for my first piece of T10, and yes, I know I'm behind the curve, but my guild is unable to clear 25ICC (anyone know a guild looking for a good prot pal or enh sham). Anyways, wondering if I should buy the Key (trinket) or a piece of T10. Sitting at 39k completely unbuffed right now, so not sure how much more HP I really need to stack up, but it's proc is kinda nice. But 2p is decent as well.

Would be cool if we get an armory link.

As for the trinket, the proc is on use not on hit I thought. Someone confirm?

And as for frost emblems, I check the loot there is and go for the things that are hardest to obtain. For example: Ret pala has no DPS shoulder in ICC yet and the next quarter will drop em off Putricide so Im going for T10 shoulders

Just picked up the cloak today, going for the trinket next. So guessing since crafted legs are in there, that they are better for us than getting our 4p T10?

    Re: Prot Frost Emblem Question

I'm waiting for a few more wings to release for theorycrafting on offset vs. T10. So for the moment I've bought the trinket, buying the belt later this week, and the cloak will be my 3rd purchase. By then I'll be able to select the right tier gear, especially having upped my chances of getting tokens by then.

    Re: Prot Frost Emblem Question

I am personally not touching the T10 until there are 2 or 3 wings open. Can't get a good belt from drops in the first wing.

    Re: Prot Frost Emblem Question

Unless you have access to the TOGC 25 gear minus anub tier drop, I would go for hands and belt first. The trinket is nice but doesn't measure up high enough compared to about 4/5 other pieces that are better prioritized than it.

I have found personally the vendor hands have been a solid investment to replace the 245 tier ones, I will likely go for the belt next although I have the 258 one so it might be the crafted legs (8 ore arggg)

Get the cloak first but put up an armory link so you can get pieces to replace your weakest ones.

As a fellow tank I feel I must tell you that the trinket is really not that great and should only be gotten if the current trinkets you have are absolute garbage or if you do not think you will ever get the stam trinket from Sindragosa. While the 228 stam is appealing, the use will block ONE hit from trash mob at best and maybe half to a quarter of a boss hit, essentially rendering it useless. Juggernaut's Vitality, Heart of Iron, the Yogg 10 parry trinket, and Unidentifiable Organ are all better trinkets if you have access to them simply because they have uses that will actually save you. The approximately 800 health difference from Heart of Iron and Yogg 10 Parry trinket will not save you from an additional boss swing, nor will the absorbed 3200, but the extra avoidance may save you from 1-12 swings depending on the boss's swing timer and RNG.

Tldr, Go for Tier Pieces or Cloak over the trinket, it should be dead last in your priority list unless you really don't have access to the trinkets above.

This is my priority list: (wont be using T10 till i have a full set to replace the T9 4 set bonus since imo its just to good to loose for minor upgrades here and there)

    Belt
    Helm
    Shoulders
    Chest
    Gloves
Trinker (the use imo puts it down LOW on priority listing)
Cloak (Wont be getting this till i have all crafted items + Tier items since i got the Anub heroic 10 cloak from ToTc Tribute chest)

    Re: Prot Frost Emblem Question

I'm only using shoulders and head of t10, as their don't seem to be strong pieces for those slots anyways. Most of the rest is crafted/emblem. A few are drops though.

The tier is bad for the most part.

    Crafted Legs (Pillars)
    Badge Vendor Chest
    Tier 10 hands + shoulders

    Go from there.

This is nonsense, currently 4 piece t10 is the best possible setup with offset shoulders. Boneguard Commander's Pauldrons are way better then the tier shoulders right now, which makes me question if you've actually researched this.

Fact of the matter is that there are currently three 264 items marginally better then their tier counterparts. This is largely outweighed by the addition of a cooldown in the form of 4pc t10.

Well the 4 T10 bonus is pretty crappy (worst of all tanks) especially when you compare the items with the high EH emblem items which are so much better imo.
I'll go with head + shoulders T10, but when you dont really have threat issuest then you could also go completely nonset. The head and shoulder items that drop are not that much better.
I bought cloak and belt up to now and ill have to see what ill buy next
Guess ill wait for the next wing and then decide

While I agree it's worse than the other tanks, it's not a bad cooldown. Think how much equivalent dodge rating 12% dodge is. It's still a BIG increase in dodge, and having an extra cooldown, which is something we lack, is fantastic in itself, whatever the other tanks might have.

You're capable of seeing all item drops from at least normal mode on sites like MMO-C and wowhead. It's quite easy to plan accordingly.

It also makes no sense to compare the 4 piece to others, save that for a QQ post. Fact remains that 12% ddoge on a 1 minute cooldown is incredibly powerful up against a number of bosses in ICC (Morrowgar/Saurfang immediately come to mind) and will greatly pay off in hardmode content (where timing cooldowns is often a necessity).

Trust me, I'm not looking to a 4 piece because it makes my gear look pretty. I haven't bothered going for a 4 set yet this expansion until t9 hardmodes (and that was only because there weren't options for many slots). T10 4 set is worth it.

worth it for you maybe, but maybe not for everyone. It also depends on your role, and your actual gear.
I personally took the back and hands, avoidance helps the fight, but it doesn't make it. EH does. I'm currently at 30k armor and 47.5k hp unbuffed, still waiting for some drop in ICC25, trust me, it's also worth it, and not just for 15sec, for the whole fight.
I healed ICC25 on my druid, with low geared tanks. it's like day and night. going for low EH will give your healers a heart attack each time you take a hit.

But how many extra armor pieces eat into the tier? I can only think of two and surely losing only one of them would be a worthwhile for a strong 4 set.
