Why is The Horde so mean?

I decided to make a new undead character, and while I was on my way to become a warrior of legend, I noticed that I had to "poison" this scarlet crusader guy. I've noticed this with other Horde based quests as well. They Seem to have quite a few quests attacking or describing attacks towards The Alliance or other races. I have never seen any Alliance quests that make you kill "good" races. There might be quests like that but I doubt that I missed that many. So the topic says, why is the Horde so mean overall, while the Alliance is defensive for the most part?

Because they are misunderstood and fighting to clear there name and for clan survival :-X

You had to know I was going to say something....

you find it mean to poison a guy who believes with all his heart to kill anything not blessed by his legion commander and that anythign not a member of his group is undead/scourge/demon in origin.

Oh and they hate ALL mages (they didn't want to help Doan.... why you think no one locked his door?)

edit: walk around stormwind more. They'll have you killing nobles in no time (or getting rid of notable prized possessions of other neighors)

Horde have that cliche' "bad guys" reputation. Thats why.

    Because you are bad.

    Leave horde NOW.

Re: Why is The Horde so mean?

I think all Horde starting areas have the players fighting alliance people in some form or another. In most cases it's more or less justified since the Alliance people have no business being there.

Examples being the Kul Tiras marines in Durotar just being there because they hate orcs. The dwarves mining stuff up in Mulgore. Night elf saboteurs and a dwarf spy in Eversong woods. The only exception to this is are the Forsaken guys poisoning and tormenting the poor humans and dwarves who are in captivity and such.

So, I think the equally fair question is why is the Alliance so mean?

Well, ask ones who designed quests. In all northern Lordaeron, the quests are like: Horde - kill x of alliance troops. Alliance - kill x boars. I guess it's that Alliance has been in this world for a while, while Horde is a bunch of refugees and outcasts that fight to prove their place in the world - and that's impossible without conquest.

Fair enough. The Scarlet Crusader might have deserved to die, but what about the aggressive nature of many other Horde quests? Like the one where you hear about the Horde ambushing the Alliance forces in Noethrend when they were fighting against a mutual enemy (scourge).

Just you wait until Cat, when the Forsaken invade Gilneas. This will be no, "self defense" garbage, this is an "expand our territory and conquer things" offensive.

    Because the Alliance has feelings...

Re: Why is The Horde so mean?

its not being "mean" the undead are humans that have been killed then forced to join the scourge by unholy resurrection, and they broke free from the scourge, and are now being persecuted by arguably their own people. besides just because the undead are mean doesnt mean the horde is. sure we have garrosh our faction jackass, but the forsaken arent really part of the horde. they are just in too kill humans for revenge

Re: Why is The Horde so mean?

The Scarlet Crusade wants to kill everything that is scourge and undead.

The Forsaken want to kill everything not Forsaken.

Hence, a feud between the factions.

Re: Why is The Horde so mean?

Here's why i think horde are offensive in the lower lvl quests and allaince are defensive in their early quests.

horde is laying claim to new lands that aren't wholey theirs, tkaing it from local tribes of rather hostile groups (quillboar, centaur, grim totems). Alliance have an established country that has mainly political issues (note the reasons for the westfall militia or the night watch).

short, Horde are making the mess that is civilization while alliance are cleaning up the messes they made in the previous wars,

It is far more likely that someone discovers the exact number of licks it takes to reach the center of a Tootsie Pop before someone can give accurate account on what goblin tastes like.

Unless, of course, there's someone out there who would eat a goblin and could survive explosions in their face and in their gullet?

Deathwing might have, but I doubt you'd survive to tell his answer if you walked up and asked him.

    *shrugs* :-\

Well you see.. When you only have enough brain cells (whether from repeated whacks to the head, rotting, drug abuse) to do anything other than fight people, your options as far as being productive goes..are limited.

well alliance is considered evil to the horde, and probably will 100% be if Garrosh becomes the new warchief, and its descended from our ancestors, that's why orcs, undead and blood elves have awesome instances and raids, and lore too!
Fire is good, it gives people fire, warmth and the ability to cook stuff, it also sets people alight, yay!
