WoW account scammer arrested by police

I hope this hasnt been posted yet but its quite interesting.

A man from Clearwater has been arrested for scamming people by selling World of Warcraft accounts. He alledgedly sold two accounts but then ran of with the money without giving the account info.

The police managed to capture him and is now holding him in jail with a $20,000 bail. He will be sued for Sales Fraude.

Glad he was captured, but seeing as he is only being sued he will most likely recieve a fine, have to repay the money he took and that is it. The criminal charges for fleeing will be dropped. They should lock him up and throw away the key LOL

This man was claiming to be selling a certain item, and when someone transferred their money to him, he took off with it and didn't deliver. This is FRAUD. Just because it's a virtual good and not a physical one doesn't make it any less criminal.

If I'm a drug dealer and I defraud one of my customers, can they sue me add or add fraud as one of the charges once I'm arrested ? maybe in America. =o
I know its a bit of a strech for an analogy. Since buying and selling wow accounts is against ToS but not law.

Sorry, but fraud is a very serious matter and should never be taken lightly, even if the person in question is possibly(!) breaking a contract they signed.

I know one guy who sold an account to a person i know(I didn't support this buy though) and then a day or two later another person logged in to the character and that was the next buyer. The guy with the account had been selling it to multiple people. Luckily the person had payed by paypal and could take the money back.

Actually a lot of you are wrong, according to the ToS trading/selling accounts is only forbidden when it is just that, the login data being traded.

When the PHYSICAL cds/dvds are sold, you are allowed to (with it) give the account information linked to the CD-key.
