Pre-Cataclysm Launch Event, what do you think it will be?

As the title says, for the Pre-Cataclysm, what do you think it will be?

For Burning Crusade, we got a invasion of Demons from the Darkportal, and a Pit Lord at the entrance of every city to kill.

For Wrath of the Lich King, we got a entirely player controlled event. A Plaque that would turn players and most NPC's into Zombies. Along with the invasion of Necropolises.

For Cataclysm, the event has to be just as epic as the events it follows. What, in you imagining will the Pre-Expansion Event be?

i would guess either a black dragon flight/twilight drake/elemental invasion, plus lots of earthquakes maybe?

Recently there was a post on WoR (not sure if it was on MMO-Champ too) about an NPC called "Little-Quaker" or something like that, who more or less frequently causes the earth to quake.

So we can safely assume that we will experience the "sundering", accompanied bei some major invasion of perhaps naga, elementals and/or the black dragonflight.

Also we will probably see some major Lore events (Garrosh taking over the horde etc.) like we saw at the 3.0 launch, where Garrosh would battle Thrall in OG.

We might also see Me'dan or something concerning the events of the comic.

I personally imagine that after a massive patch to install the 4.0 version of the Old World there will be Earthquakes in the zone north of Stormwind, and player will be asked to investigate by a leader of the Alliance, or Horde.

While on the way to the zone, (phasing here) Players will have to fight through Twilight Hammer with a Army of Alliance and Horde, after killing the Twilight Hammer Leader with the support of Jaina or someone, it is found out that they were doing a ritual that would allow Deathwing to return from the Elemental Plane.

A massive Earthquake happens knocking the player to the ground. A Cutscene will play showing the entire zone exploding, and Deathwing emerging from it along with a massive amount of Drakes. Deathwing proceeds to wipe out the Alliance and Horde Army, while Jaina, or some random Horde Mage, will teleport the player into Stormwind or Orgrimmar.

Shortly after, the city is attacked, and you are supposed to defend it.


Of coarse, this whole event would be done without the aid of other players because of phasing, which is why I don't see this happening. Maybe they'll just add a Dragon outside of every city or something.

I really don't know what we will get but i hope on some nice pre-events, blizz will amuse us no doubt

I am guessing it will be much like the elemental invasion we had halfway through Vanilla with the added bonus of fire reigning down from the skies.

Would be cool if for example if the outside of ironforge were redesigned to hold siege equipment to fend off an attack from deathwing his black flight and even the dark iron dwarfs. (this would also lead to allowing the player to reach the ironforge airport and maybe even open up old ironforge.

Not 100% sure though given the villains it seems this expansion will focus on Nightelfs Naga the 5 flights Dwarfs and elementals.

Unlike the other expansions though this one will change almost everything.
Where as the previous ones we got a new portal or a new boat to get to all the new content and some suitably inspired mobs to kill this expansion needs to tie in the entire Cataclysm as it happens around us. I do hope they do it justice though and dont just chuck some dragon / naga adds at us and then we log in one day after patch and everything has changed.

did bliz say that they were going to be releasing the cataclysm changes in 4.0? not all of the content but at least the major changes...i thought i read that somewhere... or maybe i read that someone read that.... but im pretty sure all the major changes are coming in a patch... so the pre-cataclysm event is the cataclysm? idk.... i really do think i read that tho

I don't think anything will happen. The great cataclysm is going to be a big "KABOOM" event, and nothing that'll happen over several days/weeks.

But if blizz plan to do something, it'll prolly be something to do with black dragons, or elementals.

My guess is that, since they said they would make the pre-event something big and streched out over a bigger timeline, the first things will be very subtle.

We get little earthquakes which indicates that deathwing is trying to break free.
Then we will probably be fighting twilights hammer and black dragonflight.
As we do so the quakes will get bigger and we start seeing little cracks in the world: more lava, higher water lvl, splitted ground, ...
Then patch 4.0 arrives and deathwing breaks finally free transforming azeroth drastically.
We log on and maybe get some sort of cutscene or cinematic and we have our new world.

We will then be able to explore new territories, do some new quests and experience first handed how the world changed. Everyone needs your help so you'll be very busy.

Slowly the worgen and goblins make their way into the alliance and the horde and npcs will start to appear.

Then cataclysm is released and all finished quests will be there for u, along with the other features.
We will be able to create our own worgen/goblin and go back in time (like dk phasing starting area) to arrive at the point where they are a part of the alliance.

This is my theory of what could happen and I don't think it's too far from reality.
Throw in some more fights and changes to climat, weather, stability of ground and you got the pre event

I believe we will see some quests comming from wyrmrest temple! Witht he earthquakes and the powers that we will start to feel due to deathwing's pushing to get out the other flights will probably send us on quests to investigate what is happening.

As we investigate these abnormalities we will probably discover that there is a great disturbance in the elemental plane and deathwing and the elements will all tie in one way or the other and leading us to the realisation something big is happening.

Invasions of elements due to the twilight hammer trying to summon back deathwing and weakening the barriers between the two planes etc etc... Basically everything you dont want the elementals and deathwing lovers doing.

I tought the lich king and tbc were pretty dramatic. Opening a portal to a new world and lich king invading azeroth with his plague were kinda cool.

Even tough cata is gonna be pretty impressive, don't think the pre events will be.
Killing elementals and twilight isn't as entertaining as killing hordes of undeath and then go to northrend to afk more then a year in dala and /slap the lich king.

In case you didnt know we are already getting little quakes.. They are easy to miss especially if you are not standing still but I know quite a few people now who have experienced them including myself.

I was in ironforge when I notced my screen shuddering... thought my mouse was messing around as I was stood still but no.. it literally was a shuddering screen, tabbed out of wow t check it wasnt my monitor and it wasnt...

The pre Cata event has already started guys, albeit in a very subtle way
