Well a week or two ago I had asked for suggestions of bands like The Faceless and/or Cannibal Corpse

Finally ended up getting this, it's like The Faceless, not CC. Someone did mention them, I had heard of them before but not really listened to them. But now I did and I like it!

Brilliant! Except the parts in some songs where they start doing these weird clean vocals... I could do without that. 1st couple songs really caught my attention though so I bought it

The album artwork is strange, I assume that's a sperm being.... eaten... by an egg that resembles a venus fly trap? lol

There is many different kinds of slow and heavy (like funeral doom for example but it's not what yer looking for!) but since your example pointed to a breakdown I assume you want brutal death metal or deathcore. The song you linked is a tech brutal death metal song but I do hear deathcore elements in it too.

I am not a huge brutal DM connoisseur since aside from a couple of bands I don't really enjoy the style but I am well acquainted with deathcore so can probably help ya out a bit.

    Brutal DM:

    Defeated Sanity:

I normally don't like this extremely low belching vocal style but for some reason I have always liked this beast of a band. I bought "Psalms of the Moribund" like yesterday cheap in a local bookstore and it's awesome, though I knew this band way before. This band is delicious like a putrid bloated corpse found in a trashcan 2 months after death.

    Abominable Putridity:

This album released this year is also pretty delicious s-s-s-s-slamming death methulz.

    Fleshgod Apocalypse:

Less bruthalz and moar subtlety plus classical elements in technical brutal death methulz. Lovely

Also check out Hour Of Penance which is a band related to FGA and similiar to it minus the classical elements.

This might also be worth mentioning.

    Deathcore:

Just gonna post a couple of links of bands I like:

That abominable putridity artwork is badass, I'll check that out later

Is it just me or does good looking album artwork also make you all more likely to check something out?

Edit : Yeah, listened to it. Vocals are too cookie monster for me and not really a fan of the slam thing, still really cool art though

I'd say it definitely does, but I've learned that a lot of good albums also have really crappy artwork

From past experiences I tend to avoid blind purchases of albums with a certain styles of covers, usually ones with poor 3d model incorporated artwork, ones with snuff photos or poor taste (fecal matter, genitalia etc.) or ones that look like they would fit to a brutal/slam death metal band.

I also dislike disgusting artwork but fortunately I rarely have interest in those albums anyways, even the grindcore albums I like tend to have alternative themes.

But I do have to say that AP album has a pretty uber cover art.

Behemoth's albums always had kind of shitty artwork(except grom and sventevith) but the band is pretty good.

And The Forests Dream Eternally EP also has good cover art. As much as I like them as a band, they really should cut down on the overproducing. Their early stuff still sounds infinitely more interesting than newer albums, much because of that.

New album from Diskord this year I missed:

Ditto. I'm fine with gore if it's tasteful (a certain head on a certain platter on a certain album cover comes to mind), but for the most part the album cover can be pretty telling about the content of the album.

    droppin' some obligatory ISIS

I dunno. I'm kinda partial to Thelema.6's artwork. Possibly because it's my favourite Behemoth album, both in production and songs. (Which isn't to say that LAM or Chant for Eschaton aren't monumental pieces).

Listening to Hallowed be Thy name ATM.

Next, on to the Sounds of a Playground fading album by In Flames before going to bed.
