    The French Black Metal scene is awesome.





    And speaking of Black Metal, Varg is going to re-record older material. I'm actually somewhat excited, but only if the production is top-notch. Having a half-good production on something like Hvist lyset tar oss would sound terrible, but I actually think a very well-produced version would go over quite smoothly.

    And I am not sure how much I enjoy the idea of Varg rerecording old stuff. Part of the charm is in the crooked production and the inhuman shrieks and wailing. Most times, rerecordings just fall flat. That said, if he picks up the ambient stuff and turns it into actual black metal, that might be interesting.

    I agree, however not totally. If you look at it from another pov, you can't compare DsO with most of the BM bands. They're much more complex and intense, both lyrically and auditively. Look at their lyrics and tell me they're not philosophical, listen to their music and tell me it's not transcendental. I love the beginning and the ending on Kenose - I, or the slow parts on Chaining the Katechon, for example, also, did I mention the dissonance ? Genuine.
