Yes, this is another PreTBC server QQ thread but it is a bit different then all others. Ok so, Blizzard already said that it will not open up Vanilla WoW server because they want to continue to expand WoW by new content blablabla and that it would be to hard to run servers with different game version at the same time (But the truth is Blizz could easily host servers with different versions of the game).
For me those two arguments are useless. I just dont get, why Blizzard does not want to open up PreTBC server when so many players want it. There are many players like me who started to play WoW in TBC/WoTLK. We were never able to experience the opening of Ahn'Qiraj doors, we were never able to slay Ragnaros and so on. But there are also players who do not want to play Vanilla WoW because they played it before or they are just not interested in playing on such server and they want to continue to play WoTLK and they have full right to do so. So why can't we find some kind of balance so everyone is happy?
Blizzard could host one server, ONLY ONE SERVER with PreTBC version of the game. How many servers are there in game? 250? All of them would remain the same and players could go play them as they used to. My idea for PreTBC server is, keep things that you added along new expansion packs like achievements but get rid of new instances (the ones added in TBC/WoTLK), items (also the ones that were added in TBC/WoTLK) and additional character levels (so maximum character level is 60 as it once was). Everything else could be kept the same way, if you think about it, it won't be that hard to prepare Vanilla WoW server for Blizzard.
After few months (or half of year, I dont know?) when most of players would complete all raids and instances Blizz could expand server with TBC content. And again after time most players would complete TBC content , WoTLK content could be released. Or of course server could be kept on PreTBC version, that depends on what majority of players would want.
FAQ
1. And what about talent trees?
Well, just keep them the same but get rid of part of the trees that were added in TBC/WoTLK. So for example, if you are retri pala on PreTBC server Repentance will be your final talent in Retribution tree and you wont be able to acess Crusader Strike, Divine Storm and so on.
2. What if noone will play on this "PreTBC" server?
Then Blizzard can close it. Please Blizz, give it a chance, you dont even realize how many players out there want to see how WoW looked before expansion packs were out. And what If server will get full and more players will play it then you expected? Then I don't see why you should'nt open up another PreTBC server.
3. Why Blizz should care? How can it benefit in any way from this?
There are hundreds if not thousands of players who play on private PreTBC servers because they hate WoTLK for different reasons. But as we all know, playing on retail and private server is like playing two different games. Private servers are very unstable and bugged and it's a lot less enjoyable then playing on retail. If there would be Pre TBC server on retail, most of those players would reactivate their WoW accounts and start to pay their subscription again.
4. On what version of client would PreTBC server run?
Does it really matter? I think it could be runned on 3.3.2/newest patch client but just with disabled additional content. Maybe it would be even better, because it may be hard for some players to downgrade their WoW client.
Feel free to post any of your opinions about PreTBC server. But please, if all you want to write is: "no, stop posting those QQ threads" then just dont.
