The Obligatory Checklist

Who We Are
We're a top 1000 world guild with our sights set on continuing to climb by getting the best possible players we can find and enjoying ourselves while doing it.
We have a custom channel where the only thing that is said is 'meow'.
We have many members who consistently make the top 200 rankings (a few in the top 10) for their class/spec on new content on World of Logs.
Our leadership consists of two men and two women. We have 3 couples that raid together.
On raid nights, we focus pretty hard and take every encounter seriously, minimizing downtime and communicating effectively. On off nights, we play "how do you say this Canadian city name" or "parse the sentence 'buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo ' on vent or in guild chat.
We do not tolerate sexist, racist, or homophobic speech or behavior.
We have a warrior with a custom sound macro attached to Bladestorm that plays "BONESTOOOOOORM!" every time he uses it. He frequently opens his mic to share it with us.
We have members that regularly contribute to the bank and make it possible for the guild to provide food, repairs, and flasks for free or vastly reduced cost.
We have a thread in our forums devoted to pictures of our cats.
We do not tolerate jackasses and douchebags. There are enough of those elsewhere - we don't need them in our guild.
We have never required anyone to stay later than the scheduled end time of a raid (+/- 10 minutes if you want to be precise). We also have never scheduled a required 25 man raid on our off nights.
We have a couple of semi-static 10 man runs led by members, older content is often run on an ad hoc basis on off-nights with whoever wants to go (both mains and alts), BGs and arenas happen pretty often as well. We do not take alts into 25 mans unless there's a very good reason to but alts often go to old content or random off-night raids.
We love to raid and want to find more like us.

Who We're Looking For
Players with an exceptionally high level of skill and a personality and behavior that fits our small roster. Folks who are ready to raid every every scheduled raid night and give everything they have every time. Fun, mature individuals with a sense of humor and a love for playing as a team.
In general, your gear must match our progression. Given our 3-day-a-week schedule, we rarely have the time or ability to gear someone up if they are too far behind the gear curve.
If you do apply, we will dig into details about your play style and personality. We will be direct and really press you on your knowledge of your class and of the encounters we are likely to see. Be ready to defend your choices in spec/gear and show us how much you know.
Our trial period is 3 weeks long. This lengthy process is to make sure both that we feel you are a good fit for the guild and that you feel the same way. Core raiders get priority over trials on main spec gear, however we do allow trials to get gear over raider offspecs.
About Maelstrom
RP-PVP? Really? Doth I really want to transfer to such a lame-eth server? I bet you guys RP in raids, don't you?
The answers are yes, yes, yes, and no. Maelstrom is a very active server with a lot of raiding guilds (one guild in the top world 100, five more in the top 1000 or so, and a bunch below that), a lot of decent raid PUGs, and a little bit of RP. The server has maintained a top 50 position on WoW Progress's server progression list throughout these first months of Icecrown Citadel. PUG raids aren't the best, but there are a decent number at any given time. Some of the other raiding guilds run old content weekly for various needs.
Kamigami is not an RP guild but we don't have any issue with it. Raid time is all about putting on our game-faces, getting bosses killed, and having a good time while doing it.
