Static Shock + Leveling

Assuming you have Improved Shields to make it worth a bit more, is this static shock worth getting before you head into the Elemental tree at ~60?

The talent looks promising but I'm unsure if the damage from Lightning shield makes it attractive enough to delay the talents in the Elemental tree.

Looking at it while leveling up I'd say so.

I'd say static shock is still worth getting. You need to get past it for things like Mental quickness and Maelstrom weapons before your spells become useful which is what your talents in the elemental tree improve. Not to mention that the extra charges on the lightning shield are really nice when leveling up because you don't have to refresh it as often.

Personally I'd go all the way up the Enhancement tree getting all the standard talents before starting on the elemental tree when leveling up. I'd probably pick up imp storm strike with the 2 flexable mana regen points before starting on the elemental tree too.

I can hit full 51 points in the tree without Static Shock (all of which are no-brainers as far as leveling goes)

That's what I end up with. So where would I drop 3 points to get Static Shock OR would I take Static Shock as well?

1) Spend 3 points on enhancing totems instead of Ancestral Knowledge. AK really provides very minimal benefits.

2) you need to pick up Shamanistic Focus. It is one of the better mana regen/mana use reduction talents and is much better than anything else that low in the tree.

3) You'd be better off dropping all the points in elemental shields and picking up static shock.

You could shift 1 point from Static shock to imp storm strike if you feel you really need the mana.
