What is the spellpower coefficient for the wards? can't seem to find it anywhere
if i were to trust my in game dr. damage addon...it says that my wards absorb 2978 damage each.
ugh, now i have to do math to find out the coefficient.
base absorb: 1950
spellpower (mine was buffed when i looked due to farmin ulduar for another valanyr): 3425
total absorb: 2978
2978-1950= 1,028
1028/3425= 0.30014
0.30014x100= 30.014%
so, if my addon can be trusted, and without me going through my combat log to look through it, i'd say the spellpower coefficient is about 30.014%

The coefficient is 80.53, taken from Swizzle's pve mage guide.
no......no it's not. fire and frost ward were not included in the FAQ simply because, as some folks on EJ have found, there are no readily available coefficients for the two spells, though i would assume they were equal. 80.53% is ice barrier and mana shield, no where in my FAQ do i bring up fire/frost ward.Originally Posted by Methusula

i use an addon called shieldmonitor that places a shield bar on your screen when you cast it, and gives you the shield number, you can use this with the base amount and your own sp to figure it out.
according to shieldmonitor, the coefficient comes out to 80.66%.
now which of the addons to trust?

Shield monitor is accurate. I can definitely nom 3k ticks and then absorb another ~1.5 in a raid environment. The SM "how much is left" bar always matches my msbt absorb numbers.Originally Posted by Swizzle
DrDamage has the coefficient set at 80.53%, which is accurate to within 1 point of absorption with ~1500 spell power. It's possibly slightly inaccurate (+- 2-3 points) at higher spell power levels, as I haven't tested it with a proper geared mage, but still quite close.
If your DrDamage has another number, you should update to the latest version.
