I saw this video before, it just made me angry that he burned perfectly good Burning Crusade discs. What a wasteful, wasteful man.

It's interesting how some people preach how videogames are bad and then destroy their collections, never thinking of recycling them even though they're trying to "make the world a better place".

I liked the part about the gaming community though.

Kid that can't prioritize for shit blaming video games.
Fun is fun no matter where you do it.

I found it really difficult to put up with his whiny voice. He sounds like a 12 year old, but he says he's played games for 30 years. In 30 years his balls didn't drop and he never learnt how to prioritise?

Re: The Only Thing I Know

wow that a was a lot of time i could have spendt doing something else then hearing him say that first games are bad then good....Games are nothing, it's the people. if you are lonely would you rather sit in a corner and cry or play with real people and talk with them online? same way around when i talk to my real life friends we almost always can talk about games. so all in all, if you think your "normal" then no need to watch

Re: The Only Thing I Know

the truth is in the middle of the argument.

video games do have effects (if they didn't Americas Army wouldn't exist) the same as advertising does (which despite most people claiming they can't be influenced is where most companys spend huge percentages of their cash)

only human arrogance causes us to deny we can be influenced and/or affected tho i think you become more aware that its not really true as you get a few decades under your belt.

that said burning your games is much the same as an alcoholic pouring bottles of drink down a sink after being to first AA meeting: an act caused by the realsation that they have a problem. the difference is that alcoholics (unlike ex-gamers and ex-smokers) don't often preach assuming everyone else is just like them. well not in my experience.

the games being entertainment point and the point that any "skills" are almost completely non transferable are pretty solid tho and tbh i've pointed out you can't stick "top ranked Gladiator for 5 seasons in World of WarCraft cause i have skills" or somesuch on a CV before a couple of times when people have forgot that in the end it all means next to nothing in "real life".
Mannoroth nodded. "The warrior shows much promise... I would see more of his kind, learn their potential..." WoTA

    gee thx Brox...

Neither does being a tennis champion, but that's also a recreational activity and it's in real life so it must belong on a CV!
That "achievements don't count in real life" argument makes me want to slap everybody and everything in the room.

Re: The Only Thing I Know

You're idiots, that's obvious. I don't know if you have problem with your RL (even tho it looks like it), but trust me, many people do. And they actually need help.
I play wow like 1h a day, only when I'm done with all, but what about the others that play 12h? You say it's normal? No it's not. Every person makes his own choices, but it doesn't mean they are always right. If they're not, they should get help.
What this guy made is amazing. Probably most of the people watching it don't need any changes in their lifes, but some of them do. And maybe that short video will make them think about it.

If you can't understand this, and you still think it's crap, there two options. You're a fat nolife with no friends, or you're simply stupid and think everyone's life is exactly like yours.

Re: The Only Thing I Know

Different people choose different ways to use their life.

I for example am not interested into these "normal" things life has to offer.. ( Doesn´t mean I´m a crazy person tho :P ) Money, drugs, alcohol, sex, work, all that normal stuff.. Doesn´t interest me at the slightest. about 80years on this world doing all these normal people activitys.. Doesn´t bother me if I "waste" couple years for something I enjoy, even if it cost me some of these activitys that a normal person "should" do. Atleast I´m not hurting anyone as so much other people are doing in the world..

Meh.. Only wish real life would be with dragons and other shiet :P Atleast would keep me interested to step outside .

last i checked that would at least keep you physically fit and involve socializing with others in the fresh air and sunshine.

but if you think i'm wrong by all means list your WoW achievements on your next job application if you think that will advantage you and test your theory yourself.

i'm the wrong person to be making that argument tho because i consider most professional sportsmen and women an over indulged waste of a life.

wow some guy ran 1/2 millisecond faster than some other guy (neither of whom have jobs) -.- way to move the human race forward guys...

So, you played too much, lost your friend, your wife and you're fat.

And the fault is of the VIDEOGAMES?

It's your force of will that's comparable to the one of a mouse.

Last I checked I keep physically fit just fine, you can talk to people online and what does sun have to do with this?

Also, way to sneak-edit something in. When did I say it would help me get a job? Like most things you do for fun, they have no impact on that. You may have missed the keyword there, let me highlight it for you:

    FUN

Re: The Only Thing I Know

"Because everything I do has to increase the value and abilities I have as a human."

Video games are a hobby. If you don't have a hobby: I'd say you don't have a life.

If someone have been gaming for years and quit to do something else on their free time, well how good for them.
Others might actually have some time to kill, and might actually want to play a MMO on our free time, since it's a social action just as lasergame or going to the local pub.

When Wow is a part of your hobby, or IS your hobby, people shouldn't bitch and moan at them just because they made that decision.
