Now that the lich king died, how long should it take before emblems of frost drop in heroics?

IF I HAD ONE
1 month b4 cata s all the nwebies will have an easy time lvl to 85
More then likly theyll do what they did in BC before wrath.
Nerf evry raid to wer even somone in greens can down Arthas. And yes probly put frost emblems for heroics.
Itll probly happen myabe a month or 2 before pre cata event.
I AM the world's first Shadow Mage.
how do you think the lvl80-85 quest rewards are going to be tuned. In wotlk it wasnt really assumed that people would be running around in full t5 or t6 so it seemed that they allowed the gear to gradually build up and overtake it. But it should be pretty much assumed that a great majority of players entering into Cata will have t9 or t10, how is that going to impact how/where the starting quest stats are going to be modeled.
People in TBC had PVP gear that was better than T5 or T6 though. I know the first thing I did when I leveled my prot warrior in WotLK was to vendor or shard all my raid gear and I leveled using pure pvp gear. I did this after I tanked regular Nexus using my prot gear and had the worst rage starvation of all time. Threw on my pvp gear and I had enough rage, I was doing ridiculous damage, and I easily surpassed the gear requirements.Originally Posted by ChaosEater
So you are incorrect in your assumption that people will, on average, be better geared with WotLK than they were with TBC, an expansion that gave away practically free PVP gear that was insanely good as well as badge gear that was T6 level.
No they are not going to make the quests "challenging" for someone in T9/10 as then whoever is levelling up and has norhtrend quest greens is fucked. I'd imagine 10 man T9 would be replaced at 80, 258 at 83, 277 from raids at 85.

They will prob be the same as tbc -> wotlk and be tuned for chars in quest blue/greens, since you have to allow for alts with rubbish gear to level up through it as well
I'd be very surprised if they put frost in heroics. Pleasantly mind you, but still surprised. Currently, the doling out of frost is paced for a long timesink, making them as common as triumph is now would put a finite "end" to the WOTLK game for a huge demographic of players gearing off of emblems, but not interested in raiding regardless of how "easy" they make it.
Diablo IV is the best MMORPG Blizzard has ever made!
I'd assume just before Cataclysm is released, that or after.
I know in WotLK, T6 gear was being outdated as early as level 75 with dungeon blues. For a comparison:
Bulwark of Azzinoth - shield from Illidan
6336 armor
174 block
+29 str
+40 stam
+26 defense rating
proc on hit 2% chance of increasing armor by 2000 for 10 secs
Riot Shield - 75 blue shield from normal Violet Hold
6703 armor
187 block
+34 str
+51 stam
+23 defense rating
+66 shield block value
As you can see, it comes down to a marginally useful proc (2% chance on hit for a tank loaded in avoidance is a very, very low chance) vs a bunch of stats, so the 75 shield actually pretty much comes ahead.
Tier 6 would be like using Crusader gear going into the xpac.Originally Posted by Ganoes

ICC 10 - 25 frost badges
Weekly raid quest - 5 frost badges
ICC 10 weekly raid - 5 frost badges
ICC 25 weekly raid - 5 frost badges
7 daily heroics - 14 frost badges
Toravon 10 + 25 - 4 frost badges
So as you can see, you can get 83 frost badges a week. I wouldn't call that a slow doling out at all. Instead, it's almost like they are throwing frost badges at you. Just pelting you with them. Throwing a mighty avalanche at you.
If they "assume" people is fully epic, the blue/green geared guys lvling later on, will have major issues lvling, wiping at normal mobs.Originally Posted by ChaosEater
This expansion has a much greater gear diversity level than BC did. I doubt they'll ever have heroics drop frost. Triumph gear is still 245/232 gear.... probably above the ilvl intended to quest in the beginning lvls of cata.
No, it would be like using ICC 10 man gear going into the xpac.Originally Posted by Rurikar

Most SWP gear was 154 / 159 / 164.
Similarly, ICC 10 man gear == 251 normal, 264 hard and ICC 25 man gear == 264 normal, 277 hard.
Whereas Crusader gear is several tiers behind. Unless you meant to say ToGC 25 man? In that case, I'd probably agree.

And honest to god, why would blizzard change the emblems when there is no new tiered content coming out? The last release for badge gear in TBC was when sunwell came out. We have our last big raid out, had our emblem change, why would they add frost to heroics?
People will get their zone buff for ICC so that the people who really want, and dedicate some time and effort into doing so, but generally lacking that last bit of power other guilds have to down bosses can still kill lich king. Anyone else doesn't need tier10, if you're just doing your dailies and heroics or whatever makes u happy, then t9 will suffice more then enough.
Giving out full tier10, vendor 264 and crafted 264 to simply everyone who can run heroics is just stupid. Its a spit in the face of everyone who actually devotes time and effort into this game imo.
True, but thats assuming you're good enough to clear ICC most people at best will do 5 from weekly 14 from heroics 4 from VoA. Which is about 23 per week.Originally Posted by Ganoes
If you aren't doing ICC then you don't need frost badge gear. At all. So that really shouldn't be a consideration.
You get 83 badges assuming you can down all the content. So I guess we have everyone downing LK on 10 let alone 25 amiright?
