New 80 - what pieces of t9 first??

Hey guys - almost have my mage to 80. Which pieces of t9 should I aim to get first in order to get my 2pc set bonus?

Also, which piece out of the t9 set should I avoid. Thanks!!

PS - I'm a troll and arcane spec at the moment if that makes a difference.

Everything but the chest and craft merlins robes.

I am leveling a mage to 80 as well and had a few questions:

I am very likely to have the http://www.wowhead.com/?item=47604 and http://www.wowhead.com/?item=47586 waiting for my mage once he hits 80.

1) Would I be better off in getting the 245 badge items (helm http://www.wowhead.com/?item=47692 or http://www.wowhead.com/?item=47695 and shoulders http://www.wowhead.com/?item=47714 or http://www.wowhead.com/?item=47716) instead of the 4 set T9?
-- I was thinking the 1st 2 listed as I will not be receiving any +hit from my chest, bracers and likely legs
2) What is the dps equivalent for the 2/4 set T9?
3) Come 3.3.3 when tailors can make the specialized cloth with no cool-down, I will very likely pick up http://www.wowhead.com/?item=49891. Assuming I have these legs and the robes listed above, should I still try to maintain the 2 set bonus, or just ignore it and get the 245 helm/shoulders and T9 gloves?

1. 4pc t9, it is better then that badge crap.

2. Not sure off the top of my head, but more then you get from crappy 245 offsets.

3. Assuming you have a merlins robe and those pants, id replace the robe, and then when i get my shoulders, since you will be breaking 4pc t9, equip the pants then (you will still have t9 gloves and helmet, which you should get asap, but you will have 2pc t10).

@Vegtabull : The set bonuses are a huge chunk of DPS saying that tier 9 set bonus isn't actually that great (it's good at that level) but not great ... if you have woven death and merlins robe or are looking into getting those pieces (btw I'd get woven death and tier 10 chest) you can fill the other slots with tier 10 too .. frost badges are still a lil rare but I mean providing you plan on playing the mage a bit tier 10 is what you are aiming for..

tl;dr .. at the start I'd go 4/5 tier 9 with merlins then replace merlins with tier 10 get the other parts of tier 10 and get rid of tier 9 legs with woven death

Since you're farming heroics for them, it doesn't make the slightest bit of difference.

Just get them in the order of biggest upgrade
