why are people gemming agil still?

I thought i might be missing something or missed some news, but i am seeing alot of cat druids gemming agility and i beat them hands down every raid gemming as arp.

I sit at 7.8kap, 53%crit and 770arp with no agil gemming at all. I was of the understanding that as soon as you got over 50% crit to start gemming arp.
My dmg is Shred>melee>rip and the agil people are rip>melee>shred.

So i'm beating them, im happy with that, but did i miss some news flash? or are they just stupid.

You have to look at the other pieces of gear they have. If they are in low to mid level gear (232 iLvL and below) Agility is better. It's not until they can get ahold of an ArP proc trinket and 400 or so ArP static (non-ArP gemmed) that it is best to start gemming for ArP until your ArP soft cap. Even after they hit soft cap, Agility is better. All this 50% crit BS is personally a bunch of baloney.

Pretty much sums it up. If you see druids socketing for agi you can assume 1 of 3 things.
1. Hes arp soft cap and has no reason to socket arp
2. He might not know better and is socketing agi because it sounds cool
or and the must unlikely situation but possible 3. He is arp hardcapped and has nothing better to socket for.

Once you're softcapped you should gem agi, don't drop your arp trinket until you have 1k without it (I think that's the number)

I just dropped mine recently and I'm just shy of 10k ap, 62% crit, and 1200 arp unbuffed.

Also, in pvp I've heard decent arguments for agi over arp.

verry tru whne i was dps (2 weeks ago) i had 5850 gs but still gemmed agi since i was wating to get arthas his polearm or the trinket of sourfang before i could reach 1000+

Quite honestly, the difference is very minimal between the 2 gemmings, and it is the quality of the player, and RNG that really makes the difference. Theorycrafting is all well and fine until you have a streak/lack of 00C procs. Personally, I have tried hardcapping, softcapping and going pure agil, and found that i prefer the pure agility - being close to hit/exp cap - really hits a sweet spot at 76% crit, with no misses, barely any hits, and a bit of haste thrown in. That's not to say when I get DBW I wont gem arp. Maybe.

I just wanted to make the point clear, because alot of cats have high crit, yet slack hard on hit and expertise, which means all those sweet crits turn into misses or dodges instead of hits. can't crit if you cant hit

Pretty much sums it up. If you see druids socketing for agi you can assume 1 of 3 things.

4. He has an ArP trinket which, when it procs, takes him to or very near the hard cap.
5. He also uses some items for tanking, in which case the AGI isn't a bad choice for both specs.
