Am I at fault for this?

I was doing a random on my ret pally (yeah, I know, gross ret) with a reasonable gear (mostly icc 10 and 232-245 ilvl gear) and i get into a heroic ToC. The person who queued as a tank was a dk with half dps, half tank gear, no gems, and no enchants. We attempt first boss and he dies right away 3 times. Our healer, a resto druid with mostly 232 gear, drops because the "tank" is awful.

I chime in that I have an incomplete holy set, with a mediocre healing spec that was done quickly like 3 weeks ago. I have been getting gear for it, but I'm too lazy to do it in a timely manner. Everyone one thinks I saved the day, and that I'm automatically awesome. So, we get another tank, and we down the first boss without too much difficulty, and we get to the 2nd boss lady, whose name i cannot remember.

I cannot keep up with healing because my set isn't complete, my spec sucks, and I'm new to healing. So we wipe. Then they kick me. I guess the question is like the subject says, am I at fault here?
There once was a man with a big orange head. I decided to ask him one day why he had such a big orange head. He told me he found a genie that granted him 3 wishes, and he wished for money, a loving wife, and (I think this is where he went wrong) a big orange head.

You were nice enough to try and help the group, and TotC can be a bitch to heal with bad gear. So I'd say no.

No, kids complain too much. Obviously healing isn't your main spec, nor is it what you queued up as. Randoms are just stupid, not much else you can do about it but requeue

Re: Am I at fault for this?

I know you meant well, but she is actually very hard to heal through if you don't have the appropriate gear level/skill level. If you queue as dps and you have a viable off spec (i.e. similar level gear and skill) then feel free to switch specs. But ToC 5 man is harder than other heroics just as the ICC 5 mans are harder than the previous heroics. If you haven't had much practice and you are Alliance go do BGs where there aren't ever any healers (or good ones anyway).

So it's not necessarily your fault, but I wouldn't volunteer myself for a role in a Heroic instance unless I knew what I was doing or I announced that I was new and my gear sucked and the group was ok with that. Go do normal instances or BGs if you want to learn. People have less tolerance in Heroics.

Since your gear was incomplete your haste and int were probably low and it would be hard to keep up with the incoming damage without going oom unless the dps was very good. They should have had some patients since it was your first time healing. Probably a good thing you got booted no more repair bills and out of that group.

you are @ fault... to a point.
you tried to keep group going and succeded.. win.
you were (ur own words) in mediocre gear.. bad.
your dk tank was the problem. nothing tanks worse than a undergeared dk.

as a last note it shouldnt be that hard to reque and get a new healer in if dungeon is in progress and at first possible oportunity to kick the dk

You're not really at fault entirely, however you would have been better off not mentioning the healing set since as you mentioned it is "incomplete." I do appreciate the intentions though.

Yes the 2nd boss is reasonably hard to heal sometimes . Bad gear and no experience rubs salt in the wounds

Well, depends on what kind of ethics you go by. If you go by intent, then of course you're not at fault, it was never your intention that you were to wipe, right? If we go by consequence, however, I can blame you. You knew your healing set was incomplete and that you're new to healing, and therefore you should have thought about the possibility that you probably wouldn't be able to heal the instance.

However, to answer the question, I say no.
If I was a Blizz server technician, I'd hijack a server and use it to download porn 24/7. Guess why the instance servers always are full B]

Well, since you obviously blame the first healer for sucking because he couldn't keep a dps/tank-geared tank up on the first boss, then I'd say so. Those three mobs can hurt extremely badly, and Restoration Druids do not have any huge burst heals like Paladins.

The Confessor is extremely hard for Paladins to heal in the first place, due to all of the random damage going out(especially after a fear). You can't really blame Paladins for failing at that, but you can blame people for being far-from-awesome(i.e. jerks).

Yes, you should have kept the resto and votekicked the tank, so that you could still DPS and the healer wouldn't have left and you would have gotten a new tank.

I applaud you for trying to help the group, shame on their arrogance.

Re: Am I at fault for this?

No, you were landed with a bad tank and impatient healer. Rather than make everyone wait, you tried to speed things up and help the group - you were in no way at fault.

Its probably better you got kicked - if the group was fine about kicking you for something like that, why help them anyway, hopefully they got someone who didn't know what they were doing.

Skill > gear, asshole. Any 5 man, including the ICC ones, can be done in 100% ilvl 200 gear across the board in the hands of five experienced players. At least he put the effort into attempting to help his group just like you put effort into using puncuation in your arrogant remark.

@The op: I'm sure all experienced players have had experiences similar to this before, and it was worth a shot at a few attempts as finding a healer would likely take much longer than a couple wipes to see it doesn't work unless you were playing at a really busy time.

I applaud your effort for trying and stepping into a role which admittedly you werent geared for or experienced at.
Providing that the group was fully aware of that then they were at fault, not you.

It's good that you tried to help...

    But...

It's the groups fault for allowing a sub-par healer. Bit more gear, decent spec and a little practice I'm sure you'll be fine - people will always find something else to whine about.

Re: Am I at fault for this?

Anyone who goes out of their way to improve the group as a whole shouldn't be at fault.

You could have easily rage quit and they probably would have never even killed the first boss. The group was automatically a failure for even having to resort to having an undergeared player help heal. And did any other DPS even offer? Doubt it.

Re: Am I at fault for this?

Personally, no your not at fault you did what you could with crap gear and spec on one of the harder bosses of the heroics, although most of the damage is burst an unexpected you can dispell most of her dots so keep that in mind for next time and thingsll be much easier
If the Tank dies its the healers fault, if the healer dies its the tanks fault, If the dps dies, its the Dps' fault

You did try to help the group nonetheless, karma for you.
